I recently purchased a .38 pistol and need a safe place to store it. I don't know what kinds of cases are made for pistols and where to look. Are gun shops the best places to find these? |

Otherwise, any simple safe will do. You can pick up a small Sentry safe at Home Depot, Staples, etc. |

Sporting good, outdoor shops, gun stores are a good place. Costco has some safes and well as Home Depot or Lowes (Or whatever hardware stores you have around you) if you want to put other stuff in there as well. |

It's a full size one though that can be bolted to the floor. The bonus is that you can also use it as a safe for other valuables. The downside is that you need a key to open it so if you ever absolutely HAD to get to your piece fast it 'aint gonna happen....

I'll go to Sears to see them. Thanks! |

More questions:
- Do you want to store it loaded?
- If so, in what part of the house? (Bedroom, other?)
- Do you want to store ammunition as well?
Your security need will differ depending on whether you simply want to secure it and the ammo, or whether you want to use it as am emergency/protection firearm and therefore want to store it loaded but accessible only to you, not the kids.
