neighbor wants me to rake my leaves again

Sign in to disble this ad
So, My neighbor across the street wants me to rake again. I raked 2 weeks ago. He is retired and spends 4-6 hours a day on the porch or in his yard working. I don't care that much about the yard. And advice on how to handle the situation?
Jonathan

Is there some HOA rule that says you have to rake?

A little physical labor never killed anybody, rake your yard and try to take a little pride in your house.

This. That last time I raked I made the leaves into a simile face. It's probably my greatest accomplishment.

Are you the neighbor?

Washers, dryers and 74 Ford Mavericks are a problem. Leaves? Time to find a new hobby.

Depends how bad the yard looks. If you have a few scattered leaves, and he's just a tool, I say leave it. It your yard is pretty covered, yeah, clean it up.

Or get yourself a leafblower, and blow them all into his yard.

tell him that he is not your boss and if he wants to continue this good neighborly relationhip he will need to mind his own business. or you can just write S T F U in leaves.

As an environmental educator, I would suggest to him politely that the leaf litter mother nature provides every year has a very important purpose, removing it is simply not sound logic.

As an American, I would tell him to eff himself, and then I would do what I can to make it look worse.

Then again, one of my favorite acts of environmental terrorism is to drive through neighborhoods with the pretty, plastic, chemical soaked lawns and hold dandelions out the window and do my best to seed the entire subdivision.

He already raked, though. His neighbor sounds anal retentive by asking him to do it again.

I did try this approach. I am kind of of the same mind as you. Let nature bas as much as possible.

No HMO here. Just a lower middle class area in Atlanta. I rent. There is little grass in the yard anyway. More algae than grass. Yard is 30% covered. I think I will have to just tell him no next time. I just hope it doesn't turn into a pissing match of some sort. He is one of many 10-30 year residents in this neighborhood, and I am the odd man out.

I guess I'll go over in the morning when I see him out again and let him know I don't care. Also, 3 of my 5 neighbors sweep their driveway every week. All retired people.

Nah, but the implication that he's lazy and doesn't take pride in his house didn't help. Personally, I like the fallen leaves in my front yard. It gives it a seasonal look I don't get all the time. Physical labor? I've done enough in my lifetime to know that raking leaves doesn't count.

As for my response to the neighbor, I'd be more polite...unless he decides to bring it up again and then the leaves get raked into the shape of a middle finger.

Mike
