Neighbors with loud music

Sign in to disble this ad
My neighbors are ALWAYS blasting their music from their car, and just sit in the parking lot. I find it EXTREMELY offensive and I think it's messed up how they just think it's okay to play that **** when there are children around, and it's not like I wanna hear it either. It's the worst.. They've been playing it for like an hour now, outside and I can't even take a nap. I've called the apartment complex people about it before, and they just come out and the people turn it down only to turn it back up after they leave. It's 9pm here... Seriously.. they're so disrespectful. I've tried just asking them to turn it down too and they just laugh at me. I hate life..

Any ideas? Suggestions? I went out and played my bass as loud as I could on my balcony, but I have such a wee little amp it didn't really matter.

I'd just call the cops with a noise complaint. I get the feeling that they wouldn't be worth reasoning with.

I don't wanna start a whole, "calling cops on each other" thing. I have to live in the same complex as these people. Lol.

Well then deal with it, because your legal options just got a whole lot more limited. And BTW, you don't HAVE to live there. You could move, though of course you should not have to consider this...nor should you HAVE to deal with this noise abuse. BUT, if you're not gonna start some sort of "legal paper trail" on these a holes, you're gonna have to deal, as retaliation is not the answer. Besides, what would these people call the cops on you for anyway?

What are you doing that they could call the cops on you for?

And AFAIK, you can complain without having your name being brought up.

Well if there are even a few other people that live in the complex then how would they know you called ? I guess you could always find the biggest, burliest, scariest black dude you know and pay him a few bucks to have him tell them to "STFU." Spray painted airsoft Glock optional (held sideways of course) .

Call the police. Nothing is worse than disrespectful noise makers like this. Ive dealt with it before, and it sucks.

I used to live underneath a gentleman who thought nothing of leaving his 2nd shift job, come home at 11:30pm, and blast reggae really loud while I was trying to sleep. Now, I like reggae, but not while sleeping. I tried to take the civil approach...to no avail. You bet your ass I called the cops. Repeatedly. He must have known it was me. So what? He was being the inconsiderate jerk.

Call the cops and do it every single time the music is obscene or inappropriately loud or the misery will never stop.

Agreed. Call the cops. After two or three visits the responding officers will get tired of being nice about it and that should put an end to it.
On a related note, when I lived in an apartment complex in Baltimore in the early 90's, my downstairs neighbor decided to fire up the stereo at 7AM when I was getting home from work about 2AM. After the 3rd or 4th time, I took my bass rig that was set up in the living room (an old Crate BT-350 running through a Crate 2 x15) and laid the 2x15 face-down on the floor. Turned amp up to about 3/4's and just thumped on the bass with my right hand for about 15 minutes. That was the last time I ever heard that stereo.

Its a two way street, isn't it? You call on them and then they are calling on you. I know there must be a noise ordinance that lists a time you must "turn-it down" but you are opening up a can of worms. Now if you made friends with these people then maybe you can get them to cooperate......

She said she has a problem making friends.

Myself and a few others already asked, what exactly would they be calling the cops on her for? If they call in an unsubstantiated fraudulent claim on her, on top of being called on for noise disturbance themselves, that will bode even less well for them, ya think?

Call the cops, but mostly I'm just here for the lulz.

I feel your pain.

Called the cops on my neighbors last night...

I moved.
But calling the cops is really just about your only option. Just do it again and again until the douchebags get the hint.

do you share an adjoining wall? If so, before you leave for the day, place your speakers facing against said wall, and turn up a copy of your kid's fave Barney / Barney equivalent album, and keep it on repeat. Just loud enough that it will drill their subconscious.

I don't advocate that passive aggressive retaliatory stunt, but it's an option.
