Anyone have a nerve reattached in a finger?

How'd that work out for you?

Never had that done, but I had a minor nerve trunk in my left arm severed by an accident a few years back. I had no sensation over half of the back of my hand for a couple of years; the doctors told me I'd never get it back.

As it so happens, it's working fine now. The feeling just sort of filtered back slowly.

So, sorry I can't help you directly; but IME, nerves can repair themselves, if they're not too badly damaged to begin with.

My brother has had to do this in his finger. At first not much feeling but now all is well. I guess it all depends on how good the surgeon is.

Prognosis seems incredibly unpredictable for peripheral nerve regeneration, irrespective of anything but individual biology.

I think I'm doing better than was expected after trunk nerve reattachment two months ago in my left pinky, but am amazed at how little hard info I can find on what I can do to help the odds -- from my doctor, my PT, the Internet, anybody.

Take care of your hands!
