Netflix thinks I'm gay/lesbian :(

Sign in to disble this ad
So I rent about:

50% action/psycho thrillers
25% horror/fantasy
10% drama/comedy
15% documentary

Why the heck do they keep recommending me all these gay themed documentaries and films ...I even got one about a "lesbian porn star that's trying to cash up on the lesbian need for constant sex" (not my quote).

what the heck is going on here? Maybe giving 4 stars to "boys don't cry" wasn't such a good idea?

Maybe Netflix has an info sharing agreement with other stores.

Have you been buying a lot of flannel shirts lately?

I never did! honest ...I did see it later on cinemax, but wasn't impressed. Truly there must be something wrong with the way they model the recommendations ...either that or homosexuals really like the same types of movies I do.

To the 'hit on girls' guy ...they don't know if I'm male or female and there doesn't seem to be a 'gay' or 'lesbian' theme to their recommendations, but rather the system thinks I'm interested in the 'homosexual themed films'.

I have even consciously avoided rating movies that I knew would trigger these recommendations ...movies I liked, but never rated or rented in netflix like Philadelphia or Transamerica, I saw them on TV, never had them in my queue. Maybe they're reading my mind
