New Age 'Healing' - The Living Matrix - um, what?

If you couldn't tell by the thread title, I'm a skeptic.

I wanted to raise the subject here because I, CrispyDelicious, an adamant critic of anything pseudoscience, will be experiencing first hand a series of New Age-y 'healing sessions' beginning this sunday.

Explanation: My mother has always had an open mind about these sorts of things; in general, she's been one to believe in things even without hard science to back it up. Dealing with some physical ailments (she IS 60, after all) she got involved with this lady who preforms healing based on something to do with personal magnetic fields and whatnot. She claims to have had certain ailments cured after just one visit, so she is INSISTING that I go. Yippee....

I tried to say no, I tried to say 'give me time to research this', but sometimes, when your mother insists, you can't say no. Sigh.

So here we are. I have been directed to http://www.thelivingmatrixmovie.com/ which is supposedly a video summary/explanation of the techniques used in this 'healing science'. To top off the craziness, this healer believes in what are called Indigo Children http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_children so yeah, you can guess I'm just a little concerned this lady is more than a few shades of crazy.

So tell me folks. Who here has heard about this? What do you think? Heck, let's discuss new age pseudoscience in general.

Regardless, I'm going to be going this sunday for a 'healing session', so I will report back afterwards with my experiences.

I watched the movie and I find it a stretch for them to call it a science. They didn't even say anything regarding scientific proof of it working lol There was the lady who said she had headaches, and then she tried the program out and then they were gone--that's not scientific.

However, I do believe in the placebo effect for many things that could be psychological issues. I think the body is capable of healing itself of more illnesses than we give credit to, but there are still a lot of things it can't heal!
