New broadcast technology

I just finished watching your US election coverage on CNN and saw some amazing new technology! They showed this holographic projection of the White House and this graph showing the states (blah, blah, blah) and it was floating over this table next to this anchorwoman. That was really cool!

To top that off, they had this performer (I forget this dude's name) projected into the studio like a holographic image out of Star Trek! THAT just blew my mind!

CNN really pulled out the stops for this one! US recession be damned I guess

I saw that! I thought it was pretty cheesy. But I did go to a space themed fancy dress party once dressed as Rimmer from Red Dwarf - i.e. dressed normally but with a big letter H on my forehead to signify that I'm a hologram

Rimmer from Red Dwarf! I remember that series. Its been gone from my parts 15yrs ago. I always liked the Mahler No 5 theme. It was on the same channel that carried Monty Python, Faulty Towers, and the old Dr. Who.

That hologram was amazing. (the performer was will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas). CNN must have money out the rear end.

Ridiculous. I noticed that and can't believe it's actually happening.

It didn't. It's a video effect that's cut into the live broadcast. There's no actual hologram in the studio.

Was I the only one who thought their choice of hologram celebrity was hilarious? What was that?

That was CNN trying to pander to the kettle-headded youth demographic. It was almost as funny as your Dad or your teacher trying to rap... gold.

Personally, I kept waiting to hear what Emperor Palpatine thought about the whole ordeal...
