New Ebay security?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just attempted to log into my Ebay account last night and was prompted with an array of security information. Some of what they're asking, I do not ever remember giving nor am I entirely keen on giving it now. Why does Ebay need my Social Security Number?

Anyone else been prompted with this?

I haven't entered anything. I haven't clicked on any link to arrive at the page other than "My Ebay" from the ebay page.

What exactly, and how, could this be happening?

Nope, didn't get the phish but I wouldn't have clicked on it if I had.

I DID just get en email from "UPS". They couldn't deliver a package and wanted me to download a zip file and complete a form

I just checked my account. No extra features. No phishing for me either.

I just checked on a different PC, didn't happen there. It tries the phishing regardless of the account trying to be logged into and regardless of the browser. Interesting.

You must have gotten a mod hack on your browsers, or some sort of piggyback that acts like a proxy.

Run all 3 of them regularly, they really seem to find much. Never had a virus, always had AVG updated.

This is the weirdest thing that's happened since I built this machine back in 04.

I keep getting those at work. Our email servers keep flagging them as containing a virus so I've ignored them. Odd that they're using UPS as a carrier....

That's a well-known scam that has been in the News and is flagged up everywhere on the net as a classic phishing scam!!

I think that the problem talked about in this thread sounds like a classic Trojan.....?

Well, it's doing it again. I have a laptop coming in this week and building a desktop soon. I'll just not do anything important here I suppose.
