New I-phone problems

Just got an I-phone 4S. We transferred my address my old contact list to the new phone. On my old phone I didn't have to dial the area code for local calls. Now when I text my wife I get an error code 923-0 that says I must dial 10 digits to text. I have deleted my wife's number and all info related to it, history, texts. Turned the phone off and then added her back with the area code without the area code and with one plus the area code. It still doesn't work.
I have been waiting one day to hear back from Sprint tech support and when I called them I found out the neglected to open a ticket the first time I called them yesterday. They said it could take up to 72 hours to get back to me. Actually now 96 hours in my case.
Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know how to fix it. I have been searching the internet and none of the suggestions there work.

Hmmm.... I have an iPhone 4 (but not 4s)as well but only just got it recently so I'm still learning the ropes. Thinking..... maybe they have the texts somehow cached on their side so it's still bumping into the same issue but on their end..? Remember - a text is not really phone to phone obviously, there are a lot of things "in the middle". That's just a long shot. lemme think on this a bit

Try this (from a message board I found on google):

----
Here is what u need to do I had the same thing happen to me clear that contact out of your phone that means all of the text messages from that number and all of the messages from the error code then go to your setting for your messing and turn them all off then shut your phone down. What for 2 or so min. Turn it back on and go back to your setting and turn them all back on then type the phone # in make sure you use the area code for the 10 didgets (555)555-5555 then try texting that person this should work it worked for me
----

So, you know where you re-added your wife's # with and without teh area code? Delete all of that again, clear out all messages, turn off/on then re-add your wife's # ONLY with the area code and text again.

Unless it's a long-distance call, you shouldn't need the "1."

Just put the 9-digit # instead ; area code + phone #.

no prob, I figured that you did, the only difference that I saw was that you added her number in a few different ways. Just try adding it in as 10 digits only. Maybe that'll work? lemme know! Good luck

I have a 4S, all my numbers are entered in the "11" digits form 1-(xxx) xxx-xxxx and it works neatly.

Interesting, I wonder if it's network problem or an I-phone problem. This makes it seem like a network problem.

Not to turn this into a tech pissing contest, but I've used Macs and iPhones for extended periods only to replace them with Windows PCs and Android, respectively. I know many people who stayed with their iDevices, so YMMV.

I went from Android to iPhone TBH and love it. I definitely prefer teh iPhone between the two. As far as comps go, yeah PC's win. Even my wife went from a Mac to a PC and she's been a Mac-addict for years

Never had an Android this is my first smart phone. I switched from Windows to Mac about 10 years ago and have never regretted it. I think it depends on what applications you're running. My wife is an accountant and needs to use windows for all of her accounting programs. When I was studying Journalism I swithced to Mac because it seems to work a lot better with Adobe programs. Up to know my Mac also has never gotten a virus. Even without a flu shot.:p
