Howdy, folks. I ran across this forum by accident, and was amazed by the incredible content. I'm a former professional trombonist from the 70s, where our band received a Grammy nomination in 1975. Took up guitar 4 years ago, and play a little bass when I'm recording. I have two inexpensive basses - '91 Charvel and an Epiphone Viola; plus a Fender Rumble 60w combo amp.

Now that I'm getting more proficient at playing bass, I think I will learn tons more here at TalkBass! I do want to acquire some better equipment, so I'll lurk a little in the classifieds and find out what y'all think I need. I have some decent guitar trade bait.

Looking forward to spending some time here.

Hi, Maki. I know a nice girl in Huntington Beach! I hired her to work for my company when we expanded to LA.

Thanks for remembering me! I remember that you are a Cowboys fan like me. TGP is a fun place, but I want to learn more about bass guitar now.

My oldest daughter went to Texas Tech. She's now a labor attorney in New York City.

What are you worried about? Your team is going to win its 7th Super Bowl.

And your avatar is from one of my favorite albums EVER! "Headhunters" - two sides, four songs...genius!

Welcome to talkbass!
If you’re interested in learning and furthering your level of playing on the bass,
I would suggest a spotty internet connection as this will allow you to escape the grasp of talkbass addiction.
So that you can eat, sleep, play bass and if you’re really lucky you may just get go out side from time to time.
Good luck,
Samantha.

Are you suggesting that I will spend more time on the Forum than practicing?

It was actually my college jazz group that was nominated for best jazz big band in 1975 (and again in 1976). Our bass player later joined Bill Evans, and our keyboardist has been playing with Pat Metheny for 30 years.

We were the first college band ever nominated. They were nominated again in 2010 for the 6th time.

Like many other musicians in the 70s, I starved to death and got into business. Once my kids grew up, I took up guitar at age 51, and now I'm hooked on guitars and gear.
