The New Orleans Saints

As I'm typing this and getting ready for church, I must admit that I am pretty nervous today. I feel very similar to the way I did at Christmas time when I was a child, excited, but nervous Santa might screw up. Anyway, I've been a true Saints fan since I was 13. I started becoming interested in football in high school because many of my friends were watching it. The Saints were our hometeam, so I began watching them every Sunday. I absolutely loved Deuce McCallister (have his jersey still!) and loathed Aaron Brooks...

My dad had given up on the Saints and every Sunday I watched them, he would remind me why. Everytime they lost he would remind me why. I knew this year was our year though. This season my dad was still one of the many doubters that the Saints could not make it past the playoffs much less the Farve led Vikings, but they did, and now they are going to the BIG Game: Superbowl XLIV.

Win or lose, I am proud of the Saints and I am happy to call Louisiana my home!

You should be. Even myself, never being a "fan" of the Saints, am happy to see them in the Super Bowl. Good luck, and may the best team win. GO COLTS!!!!

Lived in Kenner for a short time, then moved to Slidell, which is "home" for me. I live in NC now, but I have never stopped loving my team, rooting for them, through thick and thin. I went to games at Tulane Stadium when I was a kid, back when the Super Dome site was still an old cemetery. Went to games at the 'Dome in the 70's and yelled at the "bagheads" to go home if they couldn't stand up and root for their team with pride, no matter how bad they were.

I'm not nervous, I'm confident.

When you REALLY look past the unmitigated and blatant favoritism of the ESPN idiots and talking heads on all of the NFL shows, and really examine the two teams, something becomes clear. There is NO WAY this game is a gimme for the Colts (Tony Dungy, a 17 point win for the Colts? Really? Did someone hit you in the head too hard last week?), and as a matter of fact, STATISTICALLY (mind you, there are stats, then there is actually playing the game), the Saints are the better team.

Even if you compare the QB's in the game, Brees has been better than Manning in every single way this season.

I expect a dogfight today, but in the end, the better team will win. And in the end fellas, our boys in Black & Gold are that team.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

Excellent!

I trust you are imbibing the right beers: Dixie (the "Voodoo" stuff is excellent) or one of the Abitas?

I will be tipping some Turbo Dog, king cake and gumbo are difficult to acquire in NC, sadly, so please eat a bit extra of each in my memory.

We have a new brewery!! NOLA Brewing company sells their products in 2 gallon kegs (no bottles) at the grocery store. I had Turbo Dog last night. It'll be NOLA Golden Ale this afternoon.

My g/f will be drinking the Purple Haze (and we have a good bit of it in the fridge here at the house - she loves the stuff - it's a bit too sweet for my taste, but excellent). I love the Restoration Ale, but it's tough to come by here in NC, and I still prefer the Turbo Dog, as I'm more of an ale/stout/dark beer guy.

I'll have to get someone to get some of the NOLA Brewing Co. stuff for me, maybe my sister can get a keg up to me somehow!

...is it kickoff time yet?

(I refuse to watch any of the ridiculous pre-game coverage, because the same crew of sycophants that were busily crowning Warner and then FAR-VUH will spend the entire day crowning Five-Head Manning today - the game is of course just a formality before they name Mr. I'm In Every Other TV Commercial as the greatest QB EVAR!11!!!!!1! [hey, I actually like Peyton, but it's just getting out of hand now] - and if I'm forced to endure another minute of the bleating sheeple going on and on about it, it'll put me off eating for a week. )

I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to football

Earlier I tried to schedule a band practice w/ friends. All said no. Everyone is watching the game today.

I would be fearing for my life if I'm on bourbon street and The Saints lose
