Hello Everybody,

I will be in New Orleans this weekend and was wondering if anybody could help me out. I would like to catch some blues and jazz. Can anybody point me to the good clubs?

Thanks Much

Lived there from early 1960's until 1989.
My sister, in-laws, and friends still live there.

Read these: http://blog.nola.com/keithspera/

Look here: http://www.nola.com/music/
using the search bar and WHERE you'll be.

Some places are "safer" than others(NOLA is number one in homicides per capita), I no longer go to French Quarter events or anywhere CBD(central business district) but it's your call.

Jazz:
Preservation Hall one is usually good, the one at the top of this page looks good:

Be safe and have fun.
If you like burgers, The Swamp Room is the best for decades. http://cityguide.aol.com/neworleans/...om/v-105672084

A great "pick up a Po-Boy"(large sandwich on REAL French Bread) place is 2 blocks from where I used to live and named Come Back Inn:

Enjoy, be safe, and have a great trip.

I'll send a link to this thread to my drummer. He spend a week or so down there on business a while back. By the time he left all the guys in the clubs were calling him "That White Boy From Michigan". Even folks he hadn't officially met!

Uh oh, that could be bad.

As in..."you remember that white boy from Michigan? You know, the one who puked all over the bar after just a couple pints of Abita?"

Nah! He sat in on drums. I guess during the week there's blues jams and such all over the place. At one place he walked in, found a seat, and some guy that played guitar came up to him and said "You that White Boy From Michigan?" It was only after he replied to the affirmative that he found out the other dude was a guitar player.
