New Puppy Day!

Because everyone likes looking at pictures of cute puppies ...

Here's Zilla. Some kids found her, brought her to the school where my wife teaches and were being, err, "less-than-nice" to her in the school yard, so she got confiscated and is now a member of our furry family.

As far as the vet can tell, she's a German Shepherd / Lab mix, about 9 weeks old.

80+ lbs is more than fine. In my book, if you can't wrestle it it isn't a dog.

If I can step on it when it's an adult, it ain't a dog.

(Not that I ever WOULD do such a thing...just sayin'...)

Oh, and yeah: cute puppy, indeed.

My German Shepard / lab is the best dog I have ever had. He's almost 9 now, and the most friendly dog I can possibly imagine. He's basically an 80lb baby.

I call them little things "kick dogs." If they are small enough for me to get distance out of them when I kick them, they are kick dogs, and I don't want one of those.

I like field & working size dogs: Labs, retrievers, that size. We had a pound dog back in the '70s that we were told was lab & weimernar. Wrong! It was DANE and weimeraner. It was huge. It got hit by a Caddy once, broke the dogs hip. And put the Caddy in the shop. And we had another dog, pure bred black lab girl, 40lbs, about 20lbs undersized. They were both good dogs.

Now I have cats. I don't have to work so hard to take care of them.

Take care,

edg

Exactly. My mind boggles at those "purse" dog's who do nothing more than yap and weigh about 5 pounds.

That puppy is absolutely adorable and going to grow into a fine looking dog. I hope it brings you and the family many years of enjoyment.

Ugh... I hate to do this but part of me feels I have to just in case...

Keep an eye out for fliers or signs for lost puppies. There could be some little boy or girl heartbroken right now.

That said, he's awesome! Makes me want to get another dog! Man they're so funny...

Yeah, we're pretty sure it's ok. The description I gave above of how we came to be looking after her is very much edited for confidentiality. Minors + arrest warrants + cops = can't give details.

Congrats! I'm kinda doubting the 80 lb. idea at this point, usually for that to be true, they've already got big feet that they have to grow into.

Those feet are not that big, yet! However, that nose looks like it's ready for a job, already!
