New ride day: Ninja 250R

Oh how it is great when GAS leads you to new gear/stuff/whatever!

Bought this 2010 Kawasaki 250R last week but was waiting the ownership transfer. Dealer called this morning and here is Evangeline!

Fun bikes! Congrats on the new ride!

giacomini 02-11-2013 07:50 AM

Thanks! I had 2 125cc before, this is my first 250cc.

I know they're far from the supersports, but 0-60mph in about 5 to 6s is GREAT :D

That's so nice. I want one too.

Congrats! Great bike in a great color.

Congrats on the bike! Those are awesome bikes. Make sure you get some good gear and be safe!

That is one sharp looking bike! I love the color. Congrats

Should have gone at least 500cc! Not just for the power, but at 250cc you are still paying sport bike insurance rates.

In Brazil? Is this true? Genuinely curios is all.

You need an Ibanez RG with some DR Neon's on that thing.
And a helmet.

I didn't see the OP was from Brazil, but it's true in the U.S. with most companies, I know that. Brazil? No idea.

i think they are the best 250, sound nice with a pipe too

Well let's see later this week when I go to the bank to get the (private) insurance...

We pay 2 mandatory annual taxes down here, one is a national insurance (DPVAT) and the other is vehicle registration (IPVA).

The DPVAT is the same value for any motorcycle.

The IPVA is 2% of the actual vehicle price and it applies to 250cc and over.

Private insurance is optional, but we usually get it because the national insurance plan for vehicles cover too little...

Very nice! My first bike was a Ninja 250 - old body style. Cheap and super fun, even though I'm now riding an FZ6 I miss it: you can flog it everywhere with no fear of exceeding speed limits :)

Peace,
Greg

Today was the first day I went to work on her, it was fun but I'm still getting used to it.

Really nice acceleration and it is great that it won't go too fast, this way I can learn how to handle a sport bike before I move up (not that I plan to move up any time soon... :D )

I've seen on the Kawi forums that the 250R can go up to 100mph, but I really didn't go past 60-65mph and it is enough for commuting; so far so good!
