New website amongst teens..Problem. Help me..

Sign in to disble this ad
So there is this new website with teens and such where you register your highschool or college and then you can make threads, anonymously, about ANYTHING. Problem is that #1, everying is using this new website to cut people down and be stupid, and #2, Somebody is on there posing as me and saying ****** up **** about all these people in my previous highschool and area, and then putting my name at the end of the posts! I don't see any real way to stop this either. Any advice? People are starting to call me and ask about "the things i said."

Anyways, i would love this site to get shut down, because it's really the last thing my generation needs, let alone its effecting me personally.

Just calmly and politely tell the people that it's not you and see if they could get information on the person to let you know who it is so you can call the police.

I thought you were going to talk about www.juicycampus.com

People at my college were cutting each other down on that site, so the school had an awareness program for it. Try talking to the school admin and see what they can do. Since the person is signing your name at the end of his/her posts and making defamatory remarks, you may be able to get them for libel/slander. IP addresses can be traced. Check with a lawyer.

Don't forget when you get them down, sue for a lot of money, buy your dream rig with the money, then give me the left over money for the idea.

Probably not. The problem in this situation is there really is not much you can do. There aren't many laws governing the internet. Your best bet still is to seek a lawyer (talk to your parents?) and see what legal action you can take.

If anonymous can spread as yours over the Internet, it can sure spread among your friends that someone's posing as you. Make this happen?

Have you contacted the site about this? They may be able to take it off. I don't know how much it would help, but just telling them that you'll look to legal action if they don't do anything about it could be a good idea. I assume this would be considered libel, so do some research on libel defamation laws.

Hardly anyone uses that site anyway. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I doubt the police would do anything, and it probably isn't worth hiring a lawyer/investigator.

Have a geeky friend of yours to track down the IP of the person, and beat him up. That should teach him!

Just ignore it.

Period.

They are just looking to trigger a negative response, if you play into it it will make it worse.

Sounds like someone has it in for you though. It might be worth watching your back if you ever go to a school reunion party.

You must have gone to the Shaler Area High School? A lot of their posts are on the first page with your name on them....

Threaten the website. I am sure they will claim that they have no control over content, but enough of a threat will probably cause them to pull the offending posts and user.

I'd put up a post with my name in the title saying the comments aren't me. I'd explain briefly and maturely the situation, and I'd never post on that site again. It seems like a pathetic place for pathetic people. If a website like that wants to have any merit is soooo needs to be moderated.

I was just having a look through the other posts. One of them said something about not getting pregnant and using protection, and one of the replies said:

'Quick! Somebody fetch a coat hanger!'

I know that it is rather dark humour, but it made me ROFL.
