I do have to admit, at first I thought it'd be something else...
As for Your question, no I wouldn't do it. I'm pretty hopeless even with wind-surfing, can't even imagine the injuries I'd get on a wave like that.
Kudos to the camera-man though .

Sam

That said I'm really intrigued by the mapping of the floor in that area. Might have one of my ships send me the Portuguese BA charts to see what things look like around there.

I could find you charts for say... a sixer of beer? |

Oh, and sharks |

I suck at surfing, so it would simply be a fatality

They were at least double-overhead, soupy and fast. I went under and hit my head on something and was lucky to make it to shore. Hair will not grow in the spot that I hit. No way in hell would I surf a wave that big again.

I'm a long time longboard lover and I've "dabbled" in a few large waves. ( notice I said large not big ... )
Hell no.
Big waves are for folks in better shape and are in the water daily. I have had the mindset to make a run at 'em a long time ago, but I know my limits ( as any good surfer should after 30 years in the sun ). Maybe a freak like Kelly can get it done. He's still a beast at 40. |
