OK, time to talk some more football. Free agency is just around the corner and some big names are starting to get dropped here this week so teams can avoid contract/roster bonuses among other reasons.

Two of my favorite players were told to hit the street today and yesterday. Deuce McAllister and Fred Taylor. So sad, but it wasn't like this is shocking news. Still, a major bummer.

I am very, very sad about this. However, I saw it coming.

Deuce, thanks man, good luck to you wherever you may land.

When he finally retires for good, I expect the Saints to retire his number, and he WILL be in the team HOF.

A class act, to the end, as always.

Man, it just won't be the same without #26 on the field in black and gold....

(PS, watch the embedded video on the link above, it's classic Deuce...oh, unless you're an Eagles fan, because he PUNKS the entire Eagles defense on the play! )

More NFL moves......rumor has it Marvin Harrison may be done as a Colt. Now I realize he is past his prime, and has much less to offer on the field, but that just wouldn't be right to see him in another uniform.

Kind of like seeing Jerry Rice.....wait, nevermind.

Yep, Marvin was officially released. Man, we lose our coach and now Marvin and we still could lose Saturday and Keiaho.

Gotta say the Colts did the right thing, Harrison didn't deserve what he was insisting on.

Hurts to see a key guy for so many years go out like that, especially after watching such a class act from McAlister in NO....I thought Harrison was way out of line, and thought he had way more class than that as a person. Really bums me out how he handled this.

The plot thickens. The Bucs just dumped Brooks, Dunn (no C&W reference intended here), June, and a few others. Sometimes I wonder why teams don't try harder to keep this type of veteran around in some sort of reduced role/coaching/mentoring capacity.

In other news, the nation waits breathlessly too see which aging star the Cowboys will overpay this year.

This bit of Steeler news from the PPG does not make me sad....

Steelers release guard Simmons. He was good at one point, but not anymore. We just signed this guy to big money only a couple years ago. I guess that was a mistake after all.

There's talk of Harrison going to the Eagles.
Unless he's good at catching balls thrown behind him or at his feet, it won't be a good fit.

I hope Julius Peppers gets traded very quickly, so the Panthers can have someone who plays 100% on every down.

Because of McNabb/Syracuse, right? Then again, Harrison could probably help open up space for Jackson to catch some long balls.

**BANG** We're off....guys are flying all over the place this morning.

Haynesworth goes to Washington....anyone surprised Snyder made this splash??
Bart Scott off to the Jets.
Kellen Winslow traded to the Bucs.

No issues on the moves for me so far. They are only weakening the AFC teams in our way on the path to SB #8. Haynesworth over to the NFC, the Ravens lose a productive LB, Winslow takes his big mouth out of our conference. Lining up well so far....lining up well.

As long as San Diego retains LT, I'm happy.

Well that's not entirely true. I'm bummed about Mike Goff being let go. He's been around for 11 seasons, but he was a local favorite. I'm also surprised about them letting Olshansky go. Goff and Olshansky were anchors on their respective sides of the line.

Ah free agency. That magical time of year when Washington tries to buy a Lombardi Trophy Haynesworth and Hall -- that's a magical pair right there. Perhaps Hall can hold someone down whilst Haynesworth stomps on his head. We should start a pool on the combined penalty yards for those two ro the 2009 season.

In other news: Keith Brooking is no longer a Falcon. I wonder where he will land after having played his HS, college and pro football in Atlanta.

Oh yeah, I added one too many. When you got all these SB trophies laying around, it's hard to keep track of them all.

I'm sure Belichick wouldn't mind pairing him up with Moss

Wow, the Pats gave up Cassel and Vrabel for almost nothing to KC.
