What many SF fans (myself included) were bothered by is HOW the switch happened. Alex Smith basically lost his job because he got a concussion which seems unfair. | It is unfair, but that's life, same as the Bledsoe/Brady deal mentioned above, and to a much lesser extent, Matt Flynn & Russell Wilson. Flynn being brought in to be starter(iirc) and loosing out to a rookie draft.
I wonder though, Smith and Flynn are both very good QB's, surely some teams will try and work a deal for them, there are plenty of teams the could do with better QB's.
Another slant that could be taken though is, Brady and Kaepernick stepped up, took their opportunity and ran with it. Would it be fair for them to go back to the bench after proving themselves the better players in their position?

I mean, the guy was the 3rd-ranked passer in the NFL when he got injured and replaced.

If he were on your team, you'd love him. | His play on the field? Of course. Most everything else would make me cringe.

I can officially now enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

The Tebow nonsense last year was as close as I got to believing the NFL crafts storylines. After I saw Marion Barber literally throw a ball out into Broncos players, I got a weird feeling.

IMHO, CK is light-years ahead of Smith and the majority of fans agree. the haters have been exposed for being what they are. there should NOT even be a debate.
poor Gary had to ask why the other morning. callers speculated that it was CK's tattoo's, his goatee, and even his heritage!!! people in the Bay need a life! the Niner's are killing it and fan's need to just enjoy their new super weapon.

But that's hardly a good representation of educated fans.
While I'm someone that listens to sportstalk semi-regularly, I don't call in. And I think that's true of most people, especially better informed fans who just roll their eyes at what actually comes out of the mouths of people who do take time to get on the air.
I think the only question fans had about Kaepernick going into the playoffs was that he wasn't battle tested under postseason pressure. Smith earned a lot of points with his gutsy win against New Orleans last year. I like Alex Smith. He's tough, he's a hard worker and he's been put through the wringer countless times and still been nothing but a class act about it all. But Kaep has physical gifts that Smith never will. |

| | | | We get the same this side of the pond, in regards to soccer, it's all the raving lunatics and agenda fans that ring in. Love a bit of a laugh on the radio.
Sometimes on the NFL shows we get sulking fans texting in which can be entertaining, usually disgruntled Jets fans, who then get tore to shreds. Good times.

If your defense can't hold the other team from advancing the ball far enough in 23 seconds to kick a non-heroic field goal, you deserve to lose. | It was a punch in the gut, and still stings.
To be fair though... Seattle is the 2nd youngest team in the league, being run by a rookie Quarterback. Couple that with two back to back East Coast Playoff road games, losing their best pass rusher (Having already lost to Jason Jones as well), and Marshawn looking like he was a little more hurt then we thought... It was a good showing. Not great, but good and it was a tall order for any team.
Atlanta had an epic collapse, but it was just too little, too late. It is sooooooooo difficult to get to the playoffs. It's cloudy now, the Seattle Seahawks future looks bright.
