We got two weeks to talk about the Super Bowl. I'm sure Plax will do something for us to talk about too.
Steelers handle the Cards, easily. This win will be a cakewalk compared to the battle we just had with the Ravens.
This next win will remind everyone just how much of a football genius Dan Rooney is for selecting Tomlin over Whisenhunt. Don't get me wrong, Whiz is a great coach, just not quite great enough to lead the Steelers.
Oh, before I go.....let me again thank Tony Dungy for mentoring Tomlin. You did a great job Mr. Dungy!

Right about now, he's probably happy his season is over so he can go home and relax with his family.

That said, I don't see this one being quite the cakewalk that Mike does. Arizona is dangerous, they put the 2nd best overall offense on the field, and their defense has played well - not consistently so like Pittsburgh, but when necessary, they've gotten the opposition off the field.
I think this will be a close one, mainly because the Cards have so many weapons in the passing game.
It will be a good game, I think...the deciding factor will be QB play by both teams...whoever plays mistake-free wins.
My prediction, the Steelers will eventually get to Warner enough, and based on my favorite team's ability to do the same when he was in St. Louis, and how it affected him (you hit him good and hard 3-4 times and he gets happy feet and starts throwing the ball to phantoms), Warner will be the one that cracks:
Pitt 24
AZ 20

But......with Larry Fitzgerald having ties in Minnesota and the way he catches the ball plus the fire and determination he was showing that game, plus Warner seems to have a way to collect himself and get them down the field. I'm putting my money on Cardinals. Everyone thought Mcnabb and Co. were going to shut the cardinals out. What happend? IF eagles would have won I would have put my money on the Steelers I like Big Ben better than McNabb. Does anyone know why Antowan Boulden and the offensive cordinator were screaming at eachother on the sideline even when it looked like the cardinals were on there way to a victory? |

The NFC was weak this year, no doubt. Really from top to bottom, or should I say cellar in the case of the Lions. But AZ is hot right now...desert-hot, and we all know that's when teams are dangerous. The best matchup will be the AZ "O" vs the PB "D". May the best man win. Oh, and how refreshing to have a feel good story like Kurt Warner, who was the proclaimed backup to Leinart at season's start. And I for one, don't mind it at all he wears his faith on his sleeve like that. More power to him. My folks winter in AZ and they tell me it wouldn't surprise them if he wins NFL Man of the Year, for all the charitable work he does in the Phoenix area. They tell me when they go out to eat, the Warner children get to pick out a family in the restaurant, and the Warners will buy that family's meal because he says he's been blessed with being more fortunate than most people financially. I thought that was a great story. As you can tell, I'm kinda rootin for the underdog. |

Maybe it was a slang term for being chicken? |

Thrilled for both the Steelers and Cardinals (I loved seeing the Eagles blown out of there), and especially happy for Warner ... good to see an old guy still playing well. But I don't really see Arizona winning it all, the Steelers D will be able to rise to the occasion and keep the scoring down somewhat.
Should be a good game .... |

...man, you ain't been payin' attention, if you REALLY think that'll happen...
Sorry, that D in Pittsburgh will just be too much for the Cards.

Sorry, that D in Pittsburgh will just be too much for the Cards. | I'm not even a big cards fan, but come on. How many times have they heard that in the play offs? Of course Pittsburgh is going to be the favorite to win, and the cards wouldn't have it any other way.
The Cards have shocked the world thus far, I wouldn't put it completely outside the realm of possibility for it to happen again.

That is what will be the deal sealer, Pittsburgh's defense is just too much...
I'm a bit of a Steelers fan, but I love the fact that the Cards have gotten where they are being completely written off at each turn. However, it can't go on forever, and it won't...they haven't played anything quite like what they will in 2 weeks. And, having dealt with Warner being in my favorite team's division at one time (the old NFC West), seeing my team play them twice a season (three times one season, playoffs), and seeing how to defend Warner, the Steelers will definitely be able to handle him - they've watched film, and know right where his Achilles heel is, he does not like to be hurried and or hit, he gets happy feet and starts throwing to ghosts and phantoms when you get in his grill a bit.

I think a major factor in the game is whether Hines Ward will play or not. Any word on his knee?

Hines will be fine. He has no damage to the knee. He'll play.
The key to Arizona getting this far has been the late season emergence of a running game and solid play from the defense. Well, they aren't going to have a running game against the Steelers, and the defense is not nearly as good as the Steelers defense. The Arizona D has been hot, but not even close to as fundamentally sound as the Steelers. Arizona thrives on big plays to keep their D hyped up, while the Steelers D plays tough play in and play out. We shut people down, Arizona does not.
It's really quite simple to see folks once you all get off your "this is so great for Arizona" infatuation. Arizona doesn't stand a chance.

Steeler fans are the most dedicated and loyal fans ever. Our team wins Lombardi Trophies - not division titles or conference championships.

The ones who want a team to follow and figure that the Steelers are as good a team as any to follow. I think the Patriots and Steelers split those fans, which do make up a huge chunk of the NFL fan demographics.
Call me jaded. I just hate going out to sports bars and seeing more people there for teams they don't even have a history with, when we have 3 teams in our own state that need all the support they can get. There have definitely been worse teams for blind fans (Bulls during the Jordan era or the Yankees probably take the title for that) but the Steelers are definitely up there.

But I really think in the case of the Steelers, it is legit. It's different with the Steelers, like it is with the Packers. I would never question someone in a bar wearing a Packer hat about how much of a fan they really are. These are probably the only two teams in pro sports I can think of like this. Maybe the Red Sox.
I'm not trying to get all mushy and emotional, but the Steelers and Packers really do have a unique emotional connection with their fans that leads to a HUGE national following, unlike any other.

You asked every single one of them? I would guess that many of them do. I moved from Pitt area over 10 years ago - but I still proudly wear my gear. There are ALOT of transplants in NC from the Pitt area - heck there are even several Pittsburgh bars in the Raleigh-Durham area.
I hate ban-wagon fans as well.
Maybe if the three FLA teams had one more than 1 Superbowl every 30 years, they would have more fans.
