I was concerned because they were without some key players (Braydon Schenn, Hartnell, and Briere). Then during the game, Meszaros went off and didn't return. I hope he's not out again for a long time.
One thing that concerned me about the game itself was the fact that the pucks still don't seem to be going into the net for them. For as well as they played tonight, they should have put in 4 or 5 goals. I'm thinking that they're due for an offensive explosion one of these days.
Oh, and one other thought I had. I don't like the fact that they only play Eastern Conference teams during the shortened season. They normally play pretty well against the West (at least during the regular season).

They've got no system (not Coach Oates' fault; the lockout killed his chance to implement one), but worse than that, everyone except the goalies looks out of shape and doesn't seem interested in playing hard. The penalty-taking is out of control. I don't think I've ever seen any team look this bad for so many consecutive games.

He's like one of those little dogs that thinks he's twice as big as he really is. I miss having him in the black and orange.

Also, Stuart absolutely leveled Landeskog today. Looked like he caught him right in the head with the elbow/forearm. Hope he's ok: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGahFja1F1A |

And what's with those announcers whining about the ensuing fight? In my mind, that is exactly what should happen following a hit like that. |

Neither of these things happened in the Stuart hit and I don't expect him to get suspended.
As far as the announcers, those are the SJ announcers so they're just biased. I'd much rather see someone start a fight cause someone took a run at their captain than these stupid planned fights that happen before any hockey is even played.
Also this hit is a lot like the Lindros hit. Don't put your head down when you're advancing the puck or things like this happen. |

The thing I remember most is Lindros' stick flying end over end after the hit as if it was in slow motion, and landing at the the blue line two zones away from where the hit happened. |

Sadly, Florida is outshooting them 27-22! 7-1 Flyers right now.

Luke Schenn got his first goal as a Flyer. Seven goals, and not one by Giroux. Good to see the rest of the team get going.

He instigates alot and gets in the opponents heads and that's why I like him. He doesn't back down and his primary role is just to fire his teams up. I dig it.

| | | | Slow down everyone. Florida is a pretty bad team. The only thing I got from tonight was that was five good games straight from bryz and it was nice to see a quick start for once. But we have a lot of injuries and our defense is questionable at best. The last two games was what we needed, lets see what they do with it.

B's are off to a great start. Tuuka has been solid in goal so far and Khudobin got his first start between the pipes and got the win tonight in a very entertaining game at Carolina. The Canes are an exciting team that will surprise some people this year.
Dougie Hamilton is the real deal - a puck moving defenseman with good instincts in the offensive zone, he had a terrific assist on the gamewinner late in the 3rd.
Overall, I'm impressed with how in shape and sharp the players are - not just the B's but I've watched the Rangers and the Hurricanes and they both looked sharp. Skinner had a higlight reel goal for the Canes and Horton had one for the B's - both are worth a look.
