I mean I know now why he isn't playing, he jsut got traded to the Islanders, I mean before the trade, why wasn't he playing? Did he ever say?

"Tim came to me via his agent toward the beginning of May and said he was thinking of taking the year off," Chiarelli said in a conference call Friday. "The reasons are ... I'm not exactly sure, but he did give reasons why regarding the family, which obviously I respect."
"At the age of 38, I believe it is time to put my time and energies into those areas and relationships that I have neglected," Thomas wrote. "That is why at this time I feel the most important thing I can do in my life is to reconnect with the three F's. Friends, Family, and Faith."
AKA, I'm a millionaire and don't feel like playing out my contract so I'm going to make up excuses no one can dispute. |

The polite way to put it around here is with a quote from Thoreau's Walden: " "If a man loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away."
Of course, Thoreau would have been a lousy bassist if he thought it was OK to play to a different drummer than the rest of the band.

Just like they can also overlook Marchand's antics, Pens fans get past Cooke's dirty hits, Habs cheer for Subban, Flyers and their whole team...
If I was a Broons fan I'd just be happy the entire awkward situation is over, and excited about the talented goalie named Rask I have between the pipes. |

Neither did much in the game, but it was cool to see those guys still playing at a high level against guys 10-15 years younger than them in some cases. Oh, and it was Ben Lovejoy's first game as a Duck. He played for Dartmouth, and his brother does now.

He's actually been pretty well-behaved this year.

She is also a Devils fan her husband is Jay Leach who is currently down in the AHL.

As for Rask, he's every bit as good as Thomas, IMO. And Khudobin is a great backup. In this shortened season, you'll hear more from him. 7-1 in NHL starts; 3-0 with the Broons going back to the win over OTT at the end of last regular season.

I realize they aren't as good of a team. But the best team doesn't win the Stanley Cup. If any one thinks they do just look at the Kings record this season. The Wings healthy have about as good of a chance as anyone. Right now in the west Chicago seems to be the class of the conference, but that won't mean much in the second season.
One question, has goalie become the hardest position to fill in the sport and the one least worth making a large investment in with the cap?
Think about this, with the exception of Martin Brodeur what goalie in this league has put together a great run for 3-5 years? The reality is while you need a superior goalie capable of making a great playoff run to win the cup, last years hero, tends to be this years nightmare? Luongo? Giguere?

Rinne?
Somewhere in the neighborhood of a 2.1 GAA, .925 SV%, 50+ stars every year, and a Vezina finalist for the last 3-4 years running.

On a side note, we have to bury the chances we keep getting. We had about 6 ring off the post tonight or slip through the crease behind Crawford, and we didn't have a single goal to show for it.
Also, last night's OT call was crap.

Going to make an interesting fight for the top spot in the division. Of course, can't just ignore the rest of the teams either... but I'm impressed with how well this Parise-less Devils team is performing. |

I would agree that he's been the most consistent net-minder for the last 3-4 years, but would he be worth blowing a bunch of cap space on? Considering the amount of finals he's played in since he's been there, I suspect the answer is no.
