So the NHL offseason starts with a shocker, kinda... Canadiens' Halak traded to Blues.
I guess Philly made him look bad enough for Montreal to be confident in Price all next season. Price is younger, so that probably factored into it too.

Nothing much to report from the Flyers camp. They signed goalie Johan Backlund to a multi year two way deal. |

Hacker: Heavy Drone FX | | Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Spokane, WA. | | There seems to be some uncertainty concerning Jeff Carter's future with the Flyers. He has one year left on his contract ($5M I seem to recall). I can't really blame him for his no show during the Playoffs. Considering he returned early from two broken feet which I'm guessing wasn't very comfortable. I'd hate to see him go but he brings a lot of trade value to the table and the Flyers still need a #1 goalie (which Boosh and Leights are not).
EDIT: Here is a link to NHL.coms draft page. http://www.nhl.com/ice/eventhome.htm...on=/draft/2010
Draft takes place in less than 10 days. Free agency starts on July 1st.

Spend lots of money, and stay away from the Russians (dirty, betraying %#$%#@). Oh and no bad trades, please?
That is all.

I'm unaware of his contract obligations here, but I'm tired of hearing about players jumping ship, or of the KHL poaching players under contract.
With rumors of KHL agents approaching Malkin and Ovechkin, I hope the NHL takes action on this issue.

And its their home country, so all their money isn't subject to exchange rates, or US taxes. Him being a UFA makes this lot easier on my mind, but not by much.

lowsound | I haven't heard that one but I'm not the most reliable when it comes to rumors. In all honesty we know nothing until the GMs, agents and players make their moves.
It might also be interesting to note that a "drowsy" Briere and his youngest son hit a tractor trailer while heading up to Canada. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37762226/ns/sports/ |

lowsound | I'd like that too, cuz it would mean another season in which the Leafs aren't any good (to be fair, I'm not much for change, so the consistency would be nice).
Would remind me a lot of the Sundin days in which they had terrible teams built around a single solid player (accented by aged stars and career third liners).
Still, I get the feeling that Burke probably won't go that route.
Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kovi in the KHL. His lack of success with the Devils would probably make teams think twice. Sure he can produce in a place like Atlanta, where he was given free reign to do what he does, but the key would be to produce on a team with a more structured system. That may be where his problem with the Devils occurred.
As far as the Halak thing...I like the Blues, so this could be interesting. |

We'll see... | Sure, its a gamble, but what they got in return in the trade may be more than worth it. They added both depth and youth with two solid prospects. One was the top prospect in the Blues organization. Again, its a gamble, but I think the Habs really got a great deal.

I think a change in scenery my wake him up in the PO's. He has got the talent no doubt.
Thornton has a NTC (I think) so he may stay put for one more year in SJ. It's up to him if he wants to move he can waive the NTC. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
