My girlfriend sent me this – I think Lituania found a pretty rad way of handling illegal parking

... although I don't think there are enough armored vehicles to enforce it in NYC.

That's actually an APC (not a tank) but I'm only mentioning that because I'm exceedingly OCD when it comes to that sort of thing and know that no really gives a crap..

On the other hand - I love Lithuania. Good people, hot girls, cool language and apparently a bad-arsed major in their capitol!

Well, it's a capital, Mr. Corrections.

But thanks! It's obvious now that you said it, I'm going to make my post a tad more generic.

Would you believe me if I swore that I had caught that right after I posted, then decided that it wasn't worth correcting??

It didn't strike me as though they had enough cars to begin with, that they needed to crush a few. The streets look empty to a very severe degree.

You guys do realize that it was probably a staged publicity stunt to bring attention to the problem? At least that's how I'm seeinz it.

Depends on the law. If you lose your rights when you fail to follow your duties as a driver, then yes.

Parking in the bike lane? No. Crushing the offending care with an APC? Probably not, but who is going to argue with that dude?

Cool, but it somehow looked staged.

I'm pretty sure it's staged, but I'm not sure how much. The guy walking out of the store looks pretty dumbfounded.

That is why it is staged.

Someone runs over my car with a tank, I am going Walter White on them

I tried to picture myself walking out of somewhere and simultaneously seeing the city mayor proposing a handshake, a television crew pointing me, my car chirping as I press the remote start button, but otherwise crushed into oblivion, with an army vehicle parked not far away, and I think it would take me some time to process the situation.

But you, you'd go straight at the driver sitting inside a tank? You have some courage

I wish I could find the pictures my dad took on one of his many visits to Iran.

Back when the shah was still in power my dad made quite a few trips to Iran on behalf of the US government on the pretext of evaluating their helicopter pilot training capability.

One time he came back with several pictures of cars roughly bisected between the front and rear with what looked to be a gas powered chop saw like those used by paramedics for extracting crash victims from mangled cars. Apparently that was the "remedy" under the shah for illegal parking and other minor trafficviolations. They would cut down both sides and across the roof. I guess it was cheaper and faster than all the bother of writing tickets and taking (and keeping track of) fines.

I thought it was acknowledged earlier that it is not a tank?
