Nightclub Dancefloor makes electricity.
There are several new, green nightclubs being built and the lastest trend is dancefloors that generate electricity through the movement of the dancers. One nightclub in London installed the dancefloor and it generates 60% of the energy needed to run the club. http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/07/16/...rst-eco-disco/
All we need to make this work is to actually get people into the clubs in the first place. |

the club needs to decrease its power consumption by 40% .

(tho, I wonder how much energy and cost was involved in the construction and fitting of the thing!)

What would you say if I offered to pay 60% of your monthly rent?

my goal would always be to have someone else pay all of my rent.
i have a neighbor that put in solar panels and a backup generator for cloudy cold days. and during the summer he actually gets a check from the electrical company.

Dephasing can lead to very unpleasant surprises. However, I also have a neighbor with two windmill generators and a couple of solar panels. Thanks to him, I know it's possible. It's just not widely available yet.

Seems pretty good to me. If your bill is 10,000$ a month for hydro and this floor is putting out 6000$ a month, then in a year you are looking at 72,000$ that it saved the club.
I know 10,000 is a high number but you get the point.

I did a case study on this once, even with a rather energy effecient house, and a large amount of daily sunshine (the case study was set where I live, up there with most hours of sunshine in the world) you are still looking at a good 15 or so years before you start actually saving money, and that is with an $8000 government rebate we have here.
Back on topic, I think its a great idea. To be honest they will probably save bugger all on electricity, after installation and maintainence ect, but its a great attraction for the club, and good publicity.
