Nirvana bassist runs for public office

What if a bassist runs for political office? Is politics tolerable in that case?

Ha! It is my personal opinion that Nirvana absolutely RUINED live music in clubs for at LEAST a decade. So why not gain more power and ruin something else?

No. Politics is politics no matter who the subject is.

Here's the story...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_211647.html

Novoselic has been involved in politics (as a speech-writer, I believe) for a long time.

Knowing nothing about his politics, I find the articles he writes online to be thoroughly entertaining/enjoyable. He tells some pretty cools stories of the Nirvana days, and dealing with BS in the music industry.

I dunno if I want a guy who throws basses in the air and catches them with his melon to hold political office.

Holy his image went down, Dave Grohl is in much better shape...On his defense i must admit that Kurt must look a lot worse than him !

I don't necessarily see a conflict, I get drained by politicians every April 15.
I probably don't agree with him politically but Kris was way-cool in Nirvana. A very funny guy with a great sense of humor and very entertaining on stage. He rocked.

Good for him. Glad to see a musician actually getting involved rather than just spouting off a bunch of socio-political nonsense... glad he and Grohl are doing well for themselves. I always liked them a great deal more than Cobain anyway.

I was going to make mention of this. He definitely looks like an aging Slovakian man (he is of Croatian heritage).

FWIW...if you read the Article that EricF posted (the 1st link still doesn't work for me), you would see that this is a protest of sorts.

I'm not sure of the Ins and Outs but if I remember correctly the ballots (all absentee) list the candidates under the office they are running for and their party affiliation. It is a bit confusing.

Novoselic is trying to make a statement.

Careful, guys. Let's keep our opinions of his politics out of it. I know it's a fine line to walk when we're talking about a political story, but this thread will disappear in a hurry if we go down that road.

His family is from the Balkans, so since he learned about his origins and all the suffering that his people had to endure, he felt he should have a more politicial attitude.

I like all the guys from Nirvana. I'm a huge Nirvana fan. I don't just listen to the music from them though or just like them for their music. I've seen a lot of interviews with them and they make a lot of sense. Even if they're just talking about music or the music industry, you could tell that they can really see the way things work. They have (had) good perception.
