Comcast sales people sure must get a good kickback for pushing their Digital Voice service.
Even after I explained to the Comcast representative how a previous representative lied to me about the price of the service and even after I told her why I couldn't use it (I don't have a phone line near my cable modem) and don't want it, she continued to try to badger me into ordering it.
Then, she quoted me a price to try and show me how I'd be getting a better deal than I am now. She never said it was an introductory price. I pointed out that it obviously was and that I'd end up paying the full amount after the introductory period.
I almost hung up on her at that point. It took me 25 minutes just to order an upgrade to my cable service.
Not only that, but the package I had ordered showed that the HD channels were included. Nowhere on the web page did it say that HD channels would be extra. When I was able to get a word in edgewise to ask about it, she let me know that it wasn't included.
What the hell is wrong with Comcast? Are they simply inept? Evil? Stupid? Someone fill me in here. All I wanted to do was order a simple upgrade and they pushed me to the point where I'm ready to call in and complain.
**** you Comcast!

They bought the cable internet provider I had (@Home), then completely screwed up my connection and couldn't tell me what to do because they couldn't find the "Mac book". With my hideously slow connection I googled the problem and came up with an answer seconds before they did. I could hear their whole department high fiving each other for having figured it out. Then they screwed up my billing, threatened to cut me off, major hoops to clear it up. I switched to Wide Open West.

Around $40 a month but thats the real rate not the introductory one thats going to change in three months. It's fast too they also do a good job on the install put in a UPS for the modem and everything. Internet, TV, phone, cell phone bundle is like $150 a month again real price not that introductory crap. I've had some issues with them but most of that was with my cell phone, less problems then I've had with Comcast .

This Verizon DSL is just too slow for me, especially being on a wireless connection. Also, do you have the Verizon TV? How's it compare to Comcast? That bundle for $150 sounds like a real good deal considering we already have the Verizon phone service and we like it.
Sorry to derail your thread Mr. Grossman.

When I try to call and get it fixed, I get the run around and nothing gets solved. As soon as my "introductory" rate expires, I'm going to Dish (my house is already wired for it) and DSL.

I think they recently got it back up to par. Just did a test with a Chicago bandwidth test server, and got 5333kbps down, and 1438kbps up speeds. I used to be able to get true 1000KBps downloads with a good server. Downloading from HP for some printer drivers was FAST back in the day.

That's what is was for me.

I have no choice, my condo association made a "exclusive agreement" with Comcast so I can't get any other cable service in my area. And we are not allowed to mount dishes on the building or anywhere else.
That "exclusive agreement" doesn't give me cheaper service. And it took me forever to try to cancel my "triple play" to get rid of the digital phone. Evidently the words "I don't want it, I don't use it" doesn't register in their brains.

Sorry to derail your thread Mr. Grossman. | The speed comparison is sorta relative because with Comcast the speed they advertise is how much can come down the line you and and your neighbors share. In my experience it was faster then Comcast. The maximum theoretical speed of Comcast is higher but in practice I find FIOS to be consistently faster.
As for the TV I don't have it but a couple of my friends in the neighborhood do and I've been pretty impressed with the channel selection. Other then that I don't know what else you judge TV by. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
