I'm a landlord. If you want to you can google the landlord/renters rights to find out as the laws are different from state to state, but if there's no neglect and it's fixed in a timely manner he hasn't done anything wrong.
If it goes unfixed than you can withhold rent from him. |

Boil some water... the steam will help, it also raises the humidity of the room, so the heat has a vector to keep the air warm...
Nice hot bath., maybe even chuck your blankets in the dryer just before bedtime...
You can also get a bed warmer... like a cute Asian chick... just ask Maki... |

This is the third time in the past month that the furnace is not working but it's the furnace repair guy's fault. The last two times he came out, the landlord told him his opinion of what was wrong (old gas valve failing intermittently) but he disagreed and replaced several other things only to have it fail the same way again. Tomorrow he's going to come and replace the only thing he hasn't replaced yet-- the gas valve.
The cold doesn't really bother me (In the past, I've spent weeks and sometimes months at a time sleeping in below freezing conditions) and I'm just going to wear a sweater, sweatpants and a stocking cap to bed. My daughter isn't happy, though. For some reason, she's reluctant to wear a hat to bed.

They get hot very fast and are energy efficient for an electric heater. They are also cheap, a good small one can be under $50.
There is only one small vent taking heat upstairs... and it was disconnected for years So we basically relied on "heat rising" to warm the upstairs.
There is a baseboard heater in the upstairs bathroom and in the computer room, but baseboard heaters take forever to warm a room up and cost a fortune.
We use a ceramic heater when we need to warm the rooms up. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
