First week of my senior year and already there's hurricane days! Could this get any better?

Actually it could, because the bus ride in the afternoon really bites, but I won't have to deal with that tomorrow or Thursday!

Anyone else going to take a vacation for Fay?

No school for me either!!!

However, this doesn't change the fact that I'll be sitting at my desk, in my office, working...just like I am right now.

My kids schools were closed today so I took the day off. The weather is much better now in South Florida.

What the heck is/are "hurricane does"? I've spent most of my life in Florida, yet never heard this term.

What's it sound like? A doe is a female deer, so we're getting a whole bunch of these hurricane ones heading our way.

My kids had no school today. According to doppler, the storm has sat in the same location since this morning. We had some wind and rain but no big deal. I cooked outside on the grill tonight

Haha, tell me about it. I was moping around the house on Black Sunday when I hear that the first day of school was canceled, and then the next day found that the second day was canceled too!

Too bad I have to go tomorrow (junior BTW).

Doesn't it push into your summer if you miss too much though?

In my school district all they do is take out the early-release days and make them normal days. But the only time I've ever actually seen them do it is when we were off for two weeks 'cause of Hurricane Wilma in '05.

I don't start back until monday. All the freshman were supposed to start orientation today, haha. All my friends living on campus working staff jobs were forced to evacuate their dorms and be locked in the science building all day. I'm sooooo glad I live off campus.

Well it's my senior year, so I'm not worried about it taking from my summer. But they have a few days built in as hurricane days to make up for it.

I remember when we got trashed by the hurricanes in 04. I think we had 2 months off school after we had come from vacation.

Well, we've got 17" of rain so far, pretty much everything here is flooded, but somehow we still have water and power. So, I guess you should enjoy your "hurricane days."
