| | | | Non-music iPad apps? We got an iPad for Christmas - hooray! Wondering which non-music apps you'd recommend. Thanks.

For work, Numbers (spread sheet) and Pages (Word processing).
Facebook and Pinterest apps if you use those on your computer.
Google maps.
That's pretty much it.

- Fruit Ninja (prior addiction)
- Sudoku
- Monopoly
As far as just plain useful, non-musical stuff, I use: - TaskPro
- Subscriptions to AutoWeek, Car and Driver, and Motor Trend
- A MicroSoft Office Suite (several available for $3-9)
- A units conversion app (pounds to kilo, hp to kW, etc)
The cool thing about the magazine subscriptions is that they do more than the pulp version. You can tap links to more photos, videos of test drives, interviews, etc. and the AutoWeek subscription (bi-weekly) updates the current issue with new info on a daily basis.
If you blog, Wordpress has a nice iPad app. You might also want to consider Evernote. Hard to describe it. It's all a matter of how you use it. I have several projects and activities going at any given point in time. Evernote helps me organize and compartmentalize my ideas on the fly. For instance, if I'm at work, but suddenly get a brainstorm that applies to an entrepreneurial venture I'm considering, I can open Evernote, open the folder for that idea, and drop a note, a picture, a web link, or a soundbite into that folder and move on.

But I also really have taken a liking to the Audible App (need to pay for books though) and USA Today Crosswords.
Then there's Key Ring... keeps all of your loyalty card bar codes in one place.

| | | | A PDF viewer is a great thing to have. I use the adobe one on my iPad for storing chord charts at church. The adobe one lets you write on the document, too.
Photobucket is a good app, and is very useful for posting pictures to TB since you can get an IMG link from the app.
Skype is cool to have since nobody without an apple device has FaceTime.
Bike Baron is an awesome game. I got bored with angry birds pretty quick. This app is still fun and challenging (not that angry birds isn't challenging).

| | | | Wow guys, thanks for all the great suggestions.
My favorite app so far is Please Please Me - The Album Guide by Dinosaur Album Guides. In fact it was one of the things that moved me toward getting an iPad in the first place when I read about it in the author's blog last year. It's a very nicely presented overview of the Beatles' first album chock full of great info. It's great to look through while you've got the album playing on iTunes.
