North Carolina has confusing highways

So i have been in north carolina since friday.

I came down with my dad and grandfather as were are huge NCAA basketball fans (more specifically tobacco road school fans). Basically, we were born in the wrong country.

Anyways, so as weve been driving around from UNC to Duke to NC State and Wake Forest, i have come to the conclusion that your highways and interchanges are some of the most confusing i have ever encoutered.

From what i could tell highways twist and turn in all directions, meet and split all over the place, meet again later down to road, going in a completely different direction than that it indicates. And, apparently there are a couple of GPS blackholes.

All in all though, this is a lovely state, with some awesomely cool people and wicked universities.

For those who share my love of college basketball, getting to see all of the campuses, visiting the gift shops (heaven) arenas, sports complexes etc was absolutely an amazing experience. Getting to step on a few of the floors as well was a chance of a lifetime (wake forest and duke). Getting to walk through K-Ville in Duke was awesome, on game day, with all the Cameron Crazies lined up and waiting to get in.

Watching the game today in Wake Forest was a once in a lifetime experience and i can only hope to come back down here and see Duke or UNC play in the future.

ps, from the couple of hours i spent on each campus, Duke has the best looking girls.

Yeah, I suppose it's different when you're on the outside looking in.

I think Tennessee is worse. It is possible to be driving on 321 South and 441 North simultaneously for at least twenty miles.

You live in Montreal and complain about other places having confusing roads? Montreal has to be the worst city to drive in, one way streets changing direction isn't normal.

Oh, this place has nothing on New Orleans or Orlando for confusing streets and highways...

...if you get a moment driving between Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill, you're driving right by the Roscoe shop (I-40 passes not 5 minutes from our front door, and it's a straight shot), you're welcome to stop in, just shoot me a PM...

Just for the record, I went to school at State during the Jim Valvano era... so I obviously have my favorite school here.

Agreed on all counts. I love living here. The fact that it got up to a beautiful sunny 72deg today doesn't hurt things either!

There is stretch like that in Jonesboro Arkansas. 63 North and 49 South for several miles.

I think that the roads in New Jersey are much more confusing than the ones in North Carolina.

There is are two roads in Waterloo Ontario that cross each other 3 times and the one road has a sections that are East, West and South, without ever changing what direction you are driving on the road.

Yeah, I'm from the coast, so I got confused my first couple times driving in the Triangle area, but now I'm used to it.

This is true, i just got home and i already miss the warm weather. Shorts and t shirts in February

And im sure there are more confusing places, but this was on of the more confusing places id encountered so far. Shared highways marking different directions, but you're going in neither, a thousand turnoffs and forks, with no way to turn back for miles if you make a mistake (which happened when we hit a GPS black spot, right outside Greensboro, both there AND back).

But in any case, the trip was awesome and it was a great adventure and experience for me. Something id only dreamed of doing.

Ill post some pics when i get them off the camera.
