Not feeling christmas this year.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just not feeling it this year, usually I get pretty excited, but this year I couldn't care less about December 25.
I usually brush up on Christmas songs on bass, and play a tonne of carols, but not this year.

Is anyone else not feeling the holiday?

Yeah I feel ya. After spending the last year (+) completely laid up after multiple back surgeries, and seeing the end of my time on stage, Christmas just doesn't have that zing this year.

Nope, I am feeling it this year. Although I used to not like Christmas, then I got a girlfriend and things changed.

Christmas is all around me, we set the tree up Friday after Thanksgiving, I put lights all over the house and trees, I all set with my family's presents, I got my own gift yesterday, Markabss F1 , we have a party tonight with friends, we are going to have prime rib and red wine for dinner, I am running the soundboard at church this month... yeahhh Christmas songs before and after the service, the only bad thing is that we are not going to Mexico this year, all my family will get together at my parents house, 78 persons together BIG PARTY that I am going to miss

We may end up moving, so stuff is really in flux, so not a lot of Christmas feeling this year. Not as bad as a few years ago, when my Mom died on 21 December... that year, it was "Christmas? What's Christmas?" much less feeling any cheer.

Christmas was designed for people who have people, especially SO or Brothers and Sisters. The larger family you have the better it is. OTOH, if you are alone, the Holidays are designed to remind you life sucks as often as possible.

I understand where you're coming from on this to an extent. I don't think Christmas was "designed" though. -Luke

Christmas is my favorite time of year to go to the mall for the sport of people watching. The only better place is the airport this time of year. It's just magical the things you see and by magical I mean utterly ridiculous.

as a retailer, xmas for me is working like crazy up till xmas eve. then, thank cheeses, i get a day off. then i think, crap, i need to get presents for my kids!

seriously tho, it would be great if it could not have so much pressure on it. its nice that we build excuses into the year to get together with our families/friends. IMHO, celebrations and religious holidays are good for us humans. i think xmas suffers from being blown out of proportion. the "reason for the season" is far simpler and kinder.

it is too bad is causes people stress. i hope y'all can find something positive to do. my xmas wish for you all is that you don't feel obligated to "feel" something.

awwwwwwww, shucks.......

Actually, for me it hasn't been too bad, considering I'm unemployed, recently found out I have ADD, my father-in-law doesn't have much time left, and so on. It's not Christmas I hate, it's getting hit over the head by it with all the phony Christmas cheer stores use to sell stuff, and the cheesy music that's always being played on the radio and in the stores. I've limited my exposure to Christmas this year, so consequently I'm enjoying it more.

I worked in big box retail until I was about twenty-eight and the thing that always put me thru the grinder was after Christmas. Its like you breath a sigh of relief that its over when you leave on Christmas Eve and then you come back the day after Christmas and in between returns and sales you can actually be busier and the customers more rude. I never was emotionally ready for that.

I must admit though, I never felt any sympathy for the perpatraitors of workplace shootings after working in retail. Nothing could be more stressful and have less reward then working at a Big Box retailer thru the holidays. Those guys have real reasons to go "postal."

I'm not feeling it either.

I've never felt it before and probably will never feel it unless I marry a christian woman.

I'm busier than heck, but I still enjoy this time of year. Still need to cue up White Christmas (Crosby and Kaye) and A Christmas Story in the DVD p[layer - but I'll get around to it soon!

This time of year is actually going to be brutal trying to get everything done for various things. Christmas will pass by and I wont even know it.
