Looked some stuff up, and I don't expect much from my laptop, but maybe something 3d/horror/FPSish/cheesy to kill some time would be cool

The only Linux game you need is writing programs for other programmers in the most obscure programming language possible.

Tremulolus: aliens vs. humans online fps, lots o' fun and a cool, different approach to an FPS.

Sauerbraten (sp?) - more quakey fun, just a good game to kill time, nothing too special, runs great with low resources IME

Dwarf fortress with Wine, holy crap, takes up a lot of time, manage a fortress of dwarves, so many possibilities.

Privateer, Ascii sector, an ascii game like the old privateer space trade/explore stuff, very easy to get into considering it's an ascii game, the most recent feature is probably my favorite, disabling ships, boarding them, killing the crew and stealing the cargo, I'm a bad boy.

Urban Terror, again a quake mod, fun FPS, wall jumps and sliding but still maintains a slower pace than tremulous and sauerbraten.

That's what I'm playing right now, or really right now it's ascii sector, boarding a drayman, oh dear...
