Now we know how they feel in the Midwest

Huge and powerful supercell t-storms blew through Western and Cantral Massachusetts yesterday, spawning some tornados, including one that went through downtown Springfield. Here in Spencer we were pretty worried, since these storms were pretty spectacular. One tornado touched down in Sturbridge, about 12 miles south of here. Our house is on a concrete slab, so I cleared out the front closet and got ready to duck into it in case anything happened. Thank goodness nothing happened. One helluva light show when dusk came! Only two deaths - two too many - and it makes you realize just what the people of Tuscaloosa and Joplin must have gone through.

Glad you're safe man. I saw the news this morning.
We had a tornado watch down here yesterday evening as well, but it looks like the worst of it went up there towards you guys. We lucked out. Stay safe

I love living in New England, tornadoes are a rarity indeed, hurricanes usually peter out before reaching us, no major seismic activity, no monsoon season, no wildfire season, a decided lack of volcanoes and not even a massive river to flood us out every few years. Just a nice rotation of seasons.

I agree. When you think of everything that goes on in the USA as far as all that goes, we are very fortunate here in New England. There's nowhere else I'd rather live! The people are pretty nice too!
