Odd vision problem

Everyone knows that Talkbass is the best place for medical advice so I'm posting this here.

I just got back in from grocery shopping. Its about a 45 minute drive to Costco to get my stuff. Bought my groceries, had a diet coke, and then piled everything into my pickup truck.

On the way back I was having trouble concentrating on the road. Not anything life threatening or anything, just kind of out of it. Halfway back home I noticed a growing ache in my eyes and then suddenly everything was going in and out of focus rapidly. I pulled over into the parking of a nearby Burger King and it was done and gone in a few minutes.

Has this happened to anyone before? Or know anyone it has happened to? Likely causes?

I'm only 19 and I need to drive for a living and to do my errands. Not only do I lack medical insurance, I fear that if I do go to a doctor's I'll have my license revoked.

PS I wear contacts and glasses already, though today I wore my contacts. Maybe they're to blame?

Your eyes might've changed and thats the dull headache.

and the focusing stuff happens to me on occasion with my contacts.

Old contacts? Drying out, they kinda... idk, slip around in your eyes and get out of focus. Used to happen to me, esp. when i'd have worn the contacts for very long and did things to dry/redden my eyes out then drove.

That happens to me when I'm tired sometimes. First my brain just kind of feels disconnected and then my vision blurs for a few seconds. Sound familiar?

this is probably really off, but since you mentioned it in your post...

My friend had a brother who decided to go on a diet. His brother was pretty fat. Anyways, he goes on this diet and only drinks diet coke and eats healthy. a few months later, he goes blind. He has to go down to the hospital and get all these tests run and the end result was that he drank too much diet coke. Some weird thing in diet coke that I guess can really mess SOME people up if the dose is large enough.
