Office 2004/2008 Question for Mac

I've got Office 2008, had office 2004 installed. However, I upgraded because my school utilizes the new XML formats.

The problem is, that I'm doing a Capstone project, but the requirements say Excel 2008 will not work, that I need Excel 2004. Can I have both installed on my machine?

I won't be home to get the discs for a while, but was wondering if this would work at all.

I don't remember if there's any tips or tricks, but I think it will just make two separate Microsoft Office folders in your applications folder.
