Has anyone ever had a hard time with the Office Depot Services department? I have a 3 year performance protection plan from them for my Sony Vaio laptop, and they are giving me a terrible time with the claims process. I've called 7 times in the past 2 days, and am about to call again.
A little OT (oh what the heck, this is the OT forum...), but has anyone noticed how a lot of customer service guys tend to have two first names? Like "Mike Wilson" or "John Anthony"?

Personally, I refuse to shop at Office Cheapot again because I bought a desk from them and a filing cabinet to match... I was promised the desk within two days, delivered to my house for free and took the filing cabinet home and assembled it. Two days went by, I called, a week went by I was furious and I finally got an answer that it was discontinued.
They wouldn't take a return on the cabinet which I no longer wanted, especially after paying $170 for a cabinet that would no longer match anything. Weeks later I was out shopping, passed by another OD and went in on a whim... Needless to say the other store had had half a dozen the whole time and neither the first store nor corporate could tell me where to find one.
They're just another big chain that cares more about high volumes at low prices rather than the customer.

The reps are rude and sometimes have more attitude than I do, and I'm the one with the jacked up laptop that is their fault to begin with (the problems I'm experiencing are all problems from parts they replaced last time).
Sigh... my last phone call didn't go much better either. I finally got them to send pics of the "damage", but I know I didn't do it. It looks like someone spilled glue under the keyboard. My goodness.

Rebates aren't necessarily scams, but never take a rebate from Office Depot. |

I sent out emails to all the executives that I could find and I ended up getting connected to a senior customer service rep, and I'm being compensated fairly for me sending in my laptop, having it returned unrepaired, and spending countless hours on the phone with incompetent techs that repeatedly made empty promises.
My advice? If you are having trouble with anything like this, be it an Office Depot, cable TV supplier, etc... exhaust all normal channels, and then don't hesitate to contact the people who can actually make decisions.
