EDIT:
Before anyone utters a word, I'd like to say, our goalie will be wearing a Chuck Norris mask, which makes all other teams losers by default!!!
Face it!

Bill Guerin signed to a PTO w/ the Flyers.
Got a few new faces,...but I'm really pumped to see what Lavy can do with training camp and a full year with the team. |

The Flyers won their first against the Devils which I believe went to shootout,...and lost their second to the Leafs,....which also went to shootout. Sounds like tight hockey so far. I'm getting more and more excited. |

Pens are 1-0 in the new arena, and Shero got extended five years. Sounds good to me.

I like the Chuck Norris mask.

The odd thing about tonight's game was that Leighton played the entire game in goal for the Flyers, but apparently tweaked something (maybe a groin) in the 3rd period. So when it went to a shootout, Boucher came in cold and ended up getting the win.
I'll tell you what though James, I couldn't tell who was who from the numbers this year. And apparently the Leafs announcers didn't know either, because the only time they'd really say a Flyer's name was if it was Briere, Coburn, or somebody who's been a Flyer for awhile. And apparently, Richards, Carter, Pronger, Leino, Laperriere, and no telling who else sat this one out.

Even though it was just preseason, Babcock had all the big guns out there skating right till the very end. Well, except for Franzen who has a charlie horse after a questionable hit from Brooks Orpik a couple nights before. For me, it was awesome to see Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Kronwall, Helm, Modano, and Holmstrom play in person. Those guys look great on TV, but even better when you get to see the things TV does not catch. Heck, I want to move to Detroit now just so I can go to Wings games.
As for the Wing fans, some great folks for sure. I bought myself a Wings hat and beanie at the stadium. We sat around some season ticket holders who were real cool about telling me stories of the Wings from way back in the 50's and 60's. I'll be back for sure to a regular season game or two.
Totally off topic....Greektown is a great place to hang out after the game. Not the casino, but the area.

-Mike | Yep, it only takes one game and BOOM! You're hooked. The Joe's got a special energy that other arenas don't have, IMO at least. Kind of like Yankee Stadium but for hockey. I like Nationwide Arena here in Columbus but the Joe just has an ora about it that gives it a stronger energy and the crowd shows it.
Glad you had a great time.

With so much depth,...the Flyers are trying to get a look and familiarize with players who haven't been Flyers for very long,...if not at all. Guys like Guerin and Zherdev are given icetime so they can be brought into the fold. If they would actually let me watch a game,...I'd constantly be asking "Who is that"
I've been singing the praises of Claude Giroux since the Stretch run in the 08-09 season. Here is a sweet move he put on Giggy a few nights ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQCZEN-vHOY
I'm hoping they can keep G in Philly for a while. Sounds like he and Zherdev are clicking pretty well.
The Flyers are now 3-1 in the preseason and all of these games have gone to Shootout (which is a preseason record). I'm very excited to see some success in the Shootout for the Flyers,...something we've been lacking since the league implemented the practice. In 07-08 and 08-09,...if the Flyers were going to shootout they were pretty much guaranteed a lose. I noticed they were getting better last season, but this makes it more apparent even though it's the preseason.

I'll tell you who else has been impressive. That young goaltender, Bobrovsky (or whatever his name is). Didn't seem to be at all intimidated either in regulation or in the OT/shootout.
