Extreme disappointment lingers at what could have been for the Pack, but I am very much consoled by the fact that they were beat by the eventual SB champs.
I'm expecting big things for next year, nothing less than winning an NFC championship. As young as the Packers are, they gotta be considered amongst the NFC Elite. But then again, anything can happen.
I'll probably get a draft thread going, but I'm not a big draft guy.
Thanks for an entertaining season of banter guys. Talk to you about f-ball in about 6 months. |

I believe that Romo is only going to get better with another year of experience, and his best years are upon us. Can't wait for the season to start!

I will be done with it in a couple of weeks. I just have to thank the Giants for beating New England.

My beloved Tennessee will play well next year, but loose games they shouldn't and probably not get far in the play offs.
I'm also predicting that The Patriots will be out for revenge and will be out to try and prove they are THE team to beat.
I think that the Lions might win a few more if they get an o-line.

I hope Favre comes back, though I'm confident Rodgers is our QB of the future, as long as he can stay healthy. Favre spoiled us with his starting streak.
The Packers will be competitive and should be considered one of the favorites for the NFC Championship game. We are still very young but now have experience to go along with it. All of our players are signed and McCarthy just got a huge contract and is a blue collar kind of guy.
I expect good things for the Packers for quite a few years.
I also think that as long as the Patriots have Brady they will always be around come playoff time (just like the Pack does with Favre), but I also think the Patriots are going to have a few rough years ahead of them (they aren't going to get that "perfect" season chance again...that's for sure).

At the start of the schedule I half tongue-in-cheek, half deadly-serious disavowed my lifelong love of all things Giants primarily because the team was spiriling out of control with egos, in-fighting and possibly some of the worst sportsmanship I had ever seen. Obviously, they managed to pull out of that ...
The good part of all of that is that I got the chance to know a lot more about the Steelers, a team that looks and plays the same "punch you in the face" style as the Giants. Watch out for Pittsburgh next year ..... they are right on the cusp of being THE team to beat .....
The best part of the Giants winning it all is that Dallas and Philadelphia were sitting at home watching the Super Bowl. As long as they both lose, that's almost as good as a Giants win
Early thoughts for 2008-2009 ..... The Pats will be back, Giants will be impressive early on, Dallas will stumble, Colts and Chargers will be very good, Parcell's will turn the Dolphins around quickly and the Steelers will begin a several year run of being a dominating force in the AFC ....
Thanks for a fun year, thanks to MPG for the heads-up each week, csala for keeping the Giants faith up during my abandonment, MJ5150 & Eric 618 for sharing their Steeler love, and also thanks to Kelly Lee for keeping me humble (crow doesn't taste that bad!!) .... |

| | Online | | Join Date: Apr 2001 Location: Sunapee, New Hampshire | | Overall, I was disappointed with my Steelers this season. Sure, we won the division, but we were far from dominant like a division champ should be.
There are holes in this team that I do not see them filling like they have in the past. The o-line will be a wide open competition when we go to training camp, but the rest of the offense will only get better next season. I'm still not sure how to patch up the secondary now that Troy is turning into an injury prone flashy player. I think the LB corp will be fine, even if Haggans is not resigned. Harrison has already stepped in for Peezy, and Woodley is ready to go along with Timmons.
I think Tomlin did a good job overall, but he was clearly outcoached on more than one occasion. Tomlin will do better next season, I'm sure of that. I hope LeBeau sticks around, because I still believe in his defense. I've been mad at Arians all season long, but the offense put up good numbers last year. So while I can't stand the guy overall, he seems to be doing the job. Frustrating for me to be sure.
Despite my disappointment and gloomy outlook, I still love my Steelers to death. Nothing will change that. Since they are my team, I can say these negative things. If any of you non-Steeler fans try to say something like this, you'll be full of crap.

This was the best Giants season ever. It was like the Bad News Bears. They went on the road, beat the Cowboys who crushed them twice in the regular season, beat the Pack in Lambau during the 2nd coldest game ever, and finally beat the "unbeatable" team in the SB. All the teams I mentioned had more talent on paper than the Gmen, but they lacked one crucial element: HEART!
Eli has come of age as an elite qb who can handle the pressure.
Pointbass, It has been a pleasure dealing with a long time Giants fan this season. You may have been on the fence a bit, but deep down I can tell you bleed blue.
Yes, I'm psyched. The Giants have sucked for a while now and a SB win in arguably the best SB ever against maybe the most stacked team of all time is enough to keep me going through the off season.
Now where's my dusty bass?

They'll go into the playoffs and the Super Bowl without all the undefeated crap and all the stress associated with it. They'll be as relaxed as the Giants were at SB XLII and they'll kick the a$$ of whatever NFC team they'll meet. GO PATS!

Unfortunately, I think it took a horrendous season like this one to alert everyone to the fact that the Dolphins have been deterioriating for many years (at least since Marino left), and the only way to turn it around is a complete housecleaning among management and coaching. (Thanks a bunch, Wanny and Saban. And Jimmy, for all the acclaim he gets, built up one half of the team but let the other half rot.) So now we have to trust that Parcells will stick around long enough to move the team in the right direction. Fingers crossed...
Oh well, at least the season ended the way I wanted. I toasted the '72 team.

The might have been an average coach, but he was a LOUSY evaluator of talent and personnel guy. His decisions sent the Bears into a downward spiral for years. And sadly this is once again repeated in Miami.
For all that is good in football, and for passionate fans everywhere, please do not hire Wanny as a head coach. |

Next year it's either a marked improvement or another regime change. At the very least, having Mike Martz at the helm of the offense should make them more fun to watch. Whether it makes them better remains to be seen.
Mike Nolan, Mike Martz and Alex Smith all have one more season to try and repair their reputations. It will be interesting either way. |

Yep, I moved to Chicago four years ago, when Wanny was still the Fins' coach. I heard alllll about him. His personnel moves were just flat-out awful. He'd probably do fine as a DC again in the NFL, but certainly no more than that.

| | Mayday! Moderator | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Jackson, MS | | | The Colts need to work Roy Hall into the offense. He has medium tight-end size with fast WR speed. He could be great with Reggie and Marv working with him on his routes and hands.
Gonzo will have a year under his belt and should kill D's out of the slot.
One thing I'd love to see the Colts use more is the occassional 4-5 wideout sets. The rarely use it until trailing late in games and it's apparent to me they are out of sync when they switch immediately from their normal set to it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
