If you're sitting in the sun, taking in all that life has to offer. I suggest Alexander Keith's Premium White.
This is SUCH a refreshing beer! |

If you want a recommendation, I went to Anderson Valley Brewing's brew fest a few weeks ago and remembered how much I love their beers. While I'm not entirely in agreement with all their rankings the GABF named it the sixth best brewery in the US. Here's the complete list.
I'm just finishing up a sixer of their Hop Ottin' IPA and I've got some of their Boontville Amber and Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout in the fridge. Fantastic stuff.

have you tried River Horse Lager yet? Brewed right in Lambertville - great stuff. Not too heavy, with just the right amount of malty flavor. Great for summer

Love Pyramid (they've opened in Berkeley and Sacramento too) and really love Rogue and Redhook.
My biggest issue with that list is North Coast Brewing not even getting an honorable mention. My absolute favorite brewery. I've never even had an average beer from them. They are all fantastic IMO. Quote:

If I can't find some at Gary's tomorrow, we may have to plan an impromptu NJ GTG to get some beers.

and I was just looking to pick up a nice 'boutique' lager this weekend. I was gonna stop tonight, but it was 8:30pm before I was done shopping with the Mrs's (it's her b'day tomorrow). I'll be picking something up tomorrow on the way home |

as the result of two seperate 8 hr beer runs from modesto to Bend, prior to their wider distribution. Hand pulled Obsidian Stout has to be tasted to be believed.
"wait... you want thirty cases???"
"yes sir!"
Desceutes simul post for the win!!!!

Desceutes simul post for the win!!!! | Deschutes was one of my favorite stops. Mirror Pond is really good and I love Obsidian Stout, but my favorite from them is the Black Butte Porter.
I think I've mentioned this before, but coyoteboy's story reminded me. When I was a toddler my dad was the store manager for Safeway in Chico and he used to stock Sierra Nevada at his store back when they just opened. At that point they were still making deliveries in their car, packing cases of Pale Ale in the trunk. |

I first picked up a case in the mid 90's on my way up to reggae on the river. I've been hooked ever since. It took a good 5-6 years before I found it in my local neighborhood here in SoCal. Still love it just the same. |

Here in Canada, we have "The Beer Store" which is where i'd say 90% of people buy their beer. The other 10% goto the LCBO. |

But in terms of buying sixers and 22s, I buy mine at either the upscale grocery store near me or at BevMo. I'd wager that the majority of Americans get theirs at whatever local grocery is closest to them. And if they're macro brew fans, they probably just stop at a gas station/liquor store and pick up a case.

Most of what I get is in your regular local liquor store. We also have some bigger chain store where they are as big as grocery store, but only carry beer, wine, and booze. |

We can get it at Liquor stores where they sell beer, wine, and hard liquor. Club membership stores like Sam's Club and COSTCO sell beer and wine. Our grocery stores sell 3.2% beer, as do some convenience stores. Until recently, you could not buy alcohol on Sundays, but that was changed. One of the major conflicts right now is that the grocery stores wish to get back the business that they lost from the liquor stores being open on Sunday. They want to be able to sell higher alcohol content beer and wine. But this a can of worms. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
