Oh Denny's, how you got us good....

Sign in to disble this ad
So i went on a short tour (5 days) last week with my friend's band. Obviously, lots of crazy things happened (some of which can't be repeated here) but one specific event took place, which i found i could not not share with you guys.

So it's the first night of the tour and we are in Whitby, Ontario. The show was at this restaurant? bar? venue? called Johnny B's. Super nice place.

Anyways not important. So weve unloaded all the gear and decide to go to good ol Denny's for supper. As were from Quebec, this is one of the luxuries of visiting our neighbouring province.

So we all walk in, and the place is pretty well deserted, which is odd because it is supper time. Maybe Ontarians dont eat? They are weird folk.

So we getting seated, and there is a song playing softly over the radio throughout the restaurant. The beat and melody are familiar but i just cant seem to place it right until....

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you...

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I (along with my friends) was Rick Roll'd by Dennys.

I don't know about Canada, but down in the States, I would say that Denny's gets most of its business during the AM hours. The early AM hours, Denny's is a drunk tank where all the bar/club-goers go to dry out. While I've never gone to Denny's in an attempt to sober up, I must say that it's still a good place to end a long night out with friends. The later AM hours have people who really want some breakfast.

I think it's time to bury Rick Rolling and all talk of it. You know that this is far beyond tired and its day is done when freaking Nancy Pelosi is doing it.

My favorite Denny's story involves a drunk friend of mine, a rather attractive waitress, and the phrase "Moons over your hammy, please."
