Ok I need some help. (Homecoming Suit content)

Sign in to disble this ad
Well I'm going to cut my post in half:

Basically for homecoming you're supposed to wear a suit, right? And I think thats lame and boring and everybody will look the same etc. So I was thinking (cause I'm the only one with the stones to do it) I'd wear a Zoot Suit to homecoming. My girlfriend thinks it would be funny (in a good way) but pretty much is like "Hell No!", and tellin me to fit in just for one night.

So would it be approiate to wear a Zoot Suit to homecoming?

Thanks

Don't be that guy. It's not funny cause it's been done before at every school in the country pretty much.

If you want to be non-conformist just don't go to homecoming.

If you never want to see your girlfriend again, that'll do it.

No no no. THIS, on the other hand, will make you the hit of the party.

It seems like a good idea at the time, but four or five years down the road you'll wonder what you were thinking, just like everyone you go to school with will when you do it.

Don't think of the suit as boring or conformist. Think of it as classy. If you really want to stand out, do it from the classy angle, and you'll be less likely to regret it. Find a nice (READ: matching) hat - a fedora or similar. Not necessarily ultra expensive, but not obviously cheap, either.

Between that and a nicely color coordinated tie and shoes, and you won't look like everyone else, but you won't look like crap, either. You'll be happy, the GF will be happy, and you won't be "that guy".

Wow. Nevermind. I never knew homecoming was this serious. Apparently I have to pick her up and take her to dinner before the dance. I just thought it was a semi-formal dance. Zoot Suit is out. I'm more worried about the money I'm going to have to spend and where I'm going to get it.

Wear the Zoot Suit for dinner then change to formal wear.

Just go to H&M (or something similar) and buy nice pants, a nice shirt and a black skinny tie. Don't forget the properly fitting belt and you will be the best dress guy there. Which is always something to feel good about. The whole outfit will set you back less than $100.

Eh I would just do a suit but something sweet , like black with a black shirt , purple tie and hat with a purple ribbon or something, something classy but stands out as well, white with orange tie I dunno, just not the normal black and white.

Its going to cost some $ but if your smart you can do the whole night for about 80$, go to like red robin or something, I mean your kids dont go to some fancy place, LEAVE a tip, once again gotta look classy, the meal/tip should be under 30$. Go late neough you dont have time for desert ha.

Rent a suit, or go to goodwill , guys your age are always growing, ther emaybe some suits there cheap and worn only a few times, or simply rent one.

As for the ride thats the bummer, limos are not cheap, parents driving is kinda lame as well, i would try getting a older sibling or a cousin or something to drive you .

A limo will really leave the hole in the wallet.

This. There is one (if not four or more) every year... People laugh AT you, not with you.

Black tux. You'll be the only guy at the whole thing who looks good.

Buy it second-hand from a tux shop, and then you will always have a tux for gigs.
