Question Is it ok to wear your wedding ring after your spouse/partner dies ?

Do you think it is ok or healthy for people to wear their wedding rings after their spouse/partner dies ? I think it is a beautiful tribute and I see no problem with it.

If you aren't ready to take it off, I think you should wear it.

I actually get hit on more when I wear my ring, so it may have it's advantages in that arena as well.

Only in body, not in mind...when you reach the latter, then you take it off.
It's just a symbol anyway...the ring doesn't define it.

maybe i'm too young to answer this sort of question, but if i was ever in that situation, i don't think i could ever take the ring off.

I don't think it would be a bad way to honour their memory.

They way I understand it, a widow/widower wears their wedding ring (if they choose to continue wearing one) on the ring finger of their RIGHT hand.

My Mom still wears hers, on the same finger BTW, and it's her business.

My grandma wears her 20 years or so after my Grandpa died. She's a spunky lady that could have found another guy, but she loved him and is content with how her life is...

I think there's a big difference between someone who's 30 doing this and someone 60+.

I would probably wear it on a chain around my neck.

Sure, why not, at least until you've found someone new anyway. That being said, I haven't worn mine since my wedding day. I'll wearing when we get dressed up to go out, but that's about it.

Was it ever suggested that it was inappropriate?

I think it's fine, and when and if that person chooses to take it off that's OK too.

The only time it would be weird is if they decided to start dating again.

That was one of my biggest surprises after getting married. I never had a woman approach when I was single but then after getting married there they were. It even happened a few times while I was out with my wife (to answer the obvious question, no. ).

I see no issue with the widow/widower leaving it on as long as they want or doing anything else they want when they feel mentally read to remove it. I've had a lot of problems in my marriage over the last several years and it's been tough sometimes to stay in it, but even when I didn't want to I still would have felt really strange taking it off. In my mind, that would symbolize something so final.

EDIT - If I can go off topic for a second.... FL Knifemaker I LOVE your avatar. That one second section of that commercial get my son and I laughing hysterically every time!
