I found this hanging around. Scanned it for you guys.
Take the WAYBACK machine to Spring of 1974.
Senior yearbook pictures at Brown University. Location is
the fire escape at the end of the 3rd floor of Miller Hall,
which was part of the 'Pembroke' campus. Providence, RI.
I am on the right. The late Colonel H. Dwight Wesley '74, MD'77'
United States Air Force, is in the center. Dwight was my
college roommate and I lost him in 1984. Dwight motivated
me to take music back up after I had taken 3 years of HS off
from playing.
My best friend Paul is on the left. We still play guitar
together after 39 years. Same songs same mistakes. Same
love of the music. These years went fast. Anyway, I was
a lot better looking back then. Enjoy the years when you can.
I miss Dwight a lot. His son Kyle Wesley is my godson, I
checked out his Facebook and flipped when I realized he now
looks just like his dad.
Anyway, just needed say that today. Thanks guys.

Its funny how the time flies, but its good to have friends through music that stick with you through the years. No matter how long you dont play together or see each other, as soon as you do, it all comes back.

But my buds and I never looked that righteous, and any attempt would have been futile. This past May, I went to my 20th Brown reunion, and it was great to see some of the old crew, but I'm only in close touch with two women -- my long-gone ex-girlfriend's roommates! Sort of weird, but true. I miss some of the guys I played with back then. You're lucky to have kept up with Paul. Rock on.

I've kept up with five guys from my alma mater (U. of Florida)--three I played in a band with, the fourth is their former bass player, and the fifth is someone's brother. Unfortunately, we're spread out across the country (Austin, Boulder, Chicago, Nashville, Orlando, the Virginia Beach area), so we don't get to jam. But we all get together one weekend a year to go to a Gators game (next one's in two weeks, in Mississippi). And I see one or more of them at other times during the year. Still, I wish a couple of them were around so we could form a band.

I still remember that story you told me when you snapped your ankle (or was it your foot?) Not related to this thread, but just evidence that people were a lot tougher back then. I've retold that story to a couple of my bros, and these guys are fearless surfer. Silent awe. Feel honored that you shared this glimpse into your life. |

I am a bit tired after last night's gig. You remember hanging at the Gate? If you went to the 20th you probably heard me playing the 12 string
at what used to be Toad Hall. Right on Wriston Quad. My
35th. Wow. That went fast. Quote:

game at Homecoming. I blew it last year and didn't organize
it. As you know, if the bass player doesn't organize it, it
doesn't happen. Oct 17th, family weekend - parents
weekend, Homecoming. Brown v.s. Princeton. Time to see
the Tigers get the cayenne kicked out of them. I hope.
We are going over to Thayer Street after and doing late lunch
at Marley's (formerly Montana's).
Anyway, a good friend of mine is a Prof at U of F in
Gainesville. Psych Dept. Took his PhD at Bruno. Great
guy. Outstanding in his field. Keith White. Quote:

He was your kind of guy, grew
up with a surf board. Got arrested once or twice by the
Marines protecting Tricky Dick at San Clemente. He said
the surf was really great there.
Bro tuned me back on to music in a big way. He had these
surfer licks totally down, they were fluid and vibrant and
they moved me in positive ways.
Ankle. Yeah, I busted that in '87. Before cell phones. I crawled
for 2.5 hours on my knees to over the shore to get to the
nearest house. Like I told you, there were 2 choices, live
or give in and give it up and die. We don't give up. Ever. I'm
too Icelandic to turn over and give it up. Someday when
that test comes to you, don't give up. Never stop trying to
do what needs to be done. I forgot. You had that test this year,
right?
Anyway, thanks for the above comments. I appreciate your
all your friendship and support.
