Oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi

So this Friday is going to be the Centennial High School vs. Central High School bell game. The game is the oldest running rivalry west of the Mississippi, starting in 1892. A bunch of my friends from the college are going, so I think I am to. I'm not sure, but we might be helping the Central marching band out since they are having a hard time this year.

my high school football team was so bad that the freshman team had a fifth quarter so that the people who sucked too hard to play in the actual game could feel special. so no, i cant relate. sorry.

We talking strictly high school rivalries here? Cause the Mizzou/KU rivalry predates that.

Yeah, just high school. I have been talking to most of the student around here, and this is quite a big game. Even if they did not go to either Centennial or Central, they have gone to the game, and have rooted for one side or the other. I guess the stadium holds 12500, and it get's over filled every year. (Pueblo is a town of 100,000 people) I'm still debating on weather on not I should go with one bunch of my friends (but they'll be doing other extra-curricular activities during the game that I did last week that I'm not sure I want to do again), or play with the other teams marching band.
