Yeah that gets an eyebrow from me too,...I'm just glad she's ready to take that step but there are a lot of reasons she's never had a license. Some are personal and I won't divulge them publicly, but some of the benign reasons are,...the town we live in is pretty compact and has a reliable mass transit system and she has always had jobs that were within twenty blocks of home,...even her current very good job is close to home. That still limits you IMO, but in Spokane; if you play your cards right, you don't
need a car.
She has also had a fear and mistrust of her own decision making skills and to me,...if you are afraid to drive your better off leaving it to someone else,...scared drivers are often times the ones that cause accidents and hurt themselves as well as others. She wants to overcome that fear. I think she will be good at burying her fear and not freak out in the car,...but I know it will be there. I just try to pass on my experience with driving and think that it has made her a little more comfortable learning how to drive.
She is ready to be an adult and I'm happy about that. She has a great job with benefits and quit some things

that were sort of kid oriented. She is a very level headed and mature person and when it comes to our friendship and relationship it's very fulfilling. I couldn't ask for a more understanding and wonderful person to be my wife.
About the only thing she depends on me for is to be the driver and it's nice to be depended on. I'm such a control freak behind the wheel I'll be doing all the driving anyway even when she gets her license. It will be fun to teach her to drive a manual though. I taught my last GF how to operate a clutch and that chick is forever grateful.

She's 27. She's been kicking around the idea of getting her license for a while. She could be blowing glass except the only drug free shop where she can work and make art instead of pieces is about 15 miles away. So she realizes that she needs a car. We finally have one that I'm comfortable with her driving and not leaving her stranded. After the thaw,...I'll get my Soobie and she'll get the Honda.
Just for reference I attached a pick of the jalopy I've been driving ever since I went back to work which was two months ago,...we've been squirreling away for that long to buy a good car when one came available. I'm sorry but I'm not going into debt over a car.
In my case I also worked about 20 blocks from where I live. I've always had my license but have not owned a car in four years. I just didn't want the hassle or responsibility. There were always cars at my disposal. I picked up a POS car for $300 to get by while I saved because I got a killer new job that is a 15 minute commute away. I also have to deliver the bread for my work. The accounts are within a one mile radius of where I live so it's convenient for the owners not to have to drive all the way to town and back to the bakery,...when I can make the delivery on the way home. The wagon will make a much better bread delivery vehicle. I get paid mileage for using my personal vehicle for work,...in case you are wondering.

It was a nice little exercise in financial management and also nice to prove to my wife that there is a good reason to save money,...not just spend it all because,...meh,...we will make more.
