Olympus Digital Cameras?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone own one? I'm looking into picking one up, specifically, the 1030SW, because my current Sony digital camera is on it's last legs. It served me well, I've had it 7-8 years now, but the resolution is very low compared to what's available today, and it has a few problems, likely related to being knocked around and being used in very dirty, dusty environments.

How is the rechargeable battery? My current camera uses 2 AAs, I'd worry about running into a low battery without the charger, and being out of luck, and wisdom there?

I bought an Olympus about five or six years ago. At the time, it was the latest and greatest. But now, it's outdated. But I still use it and it works great. My g/f talks trash about it because it's old and it doesn't compete with her digital SLR. But I'm fine with it and I'll keep using it until it dies.
The batteries aren't rechargable though and they're crazy expensive. But it's a cool camera.

I have a point and shoot, and it's awesome. Here are some pics of Chattanooga, TN I took with it.

I always buy cameras that can use AAs because I'm just not very good about keeping a camera re-charged and ready to go all the time. But I also understand that most AA-compatible cameras are too big to fit easily in a pocket, so you have that trade-off. Just depends on what's most important to you, I suppose.

I like mine. It's got a huge screen on the back. I've got an SP-510 UZ.

Live shot.
