"Once," the movie

I was home sick yesterday, laying on the sofa wathching TV. I started watching this movie called "Once," with Glen Hansard and a female singer. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen.

The songs and musicianship were phenomenal. I looked this movie and the actors up online, and it turns out that the soundtrack won a grammy, and Glen Hansard is the vocalist with The Frames. They're great as well. And the female star has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.

Isn't it awesome when a low budget indy film turns out to be so much better than most of the overpriced crap that keeps coming out of hollywood?

My favorite part was when the guy hires a band off the streets, rents a studio for the weekend, and goes in to cut a demo CD. The sound engineer is really unimpressed when they're warming up, and thinks they're a bunch of newbie hacks. Once they get playing the first song, and the song builds up, he 's like, ***? These guys are good. I also like the scene where the five piece band is practicing in his small bedroom.

That movie just seems so real. Way to go Irish rock, and low budget indie films.

Yeah, very inspirational movie, very moving too. I love the tension in their friendship as he is unwilling to move on as well as her aprehensions to reconcile with her husband...but yeah, the soundtrack is 10000% worth the money.

They won an Oscar as well for best original song or what it's called.

And yes, the soundtrack is awesome. And their liveshow is great too

Not so amazing that they ended up a couple after the movie, eh? Their chemistry was really good.

Thumbs up

Fantastic movie, fantastic soundtrack.

Enjoyed it immensely, and recommend that if you haven't seen it, you do right away.

What's nice is if you buy the DVD, they give you "falling slowly" for free from a website...the song they write in the music shop...if you like that soundtrack, you'd do well to pick up the album "the Swell Season" which is where practically half the music and the inspiration for the movie came from.

I agree, brilliant film. The least Frames album 'The Cost' is very good.

From what I understand they're no longer a couple.

Better to have loved and lost than never loved at all...... It's a neat love story, lovely film.
