well it hasnt been easy...

gave away my usual saturday night helpings of ice cream, no cake with my tea when mum came over to visit.. no extra helpings of bread and honey over the weekend ....long pushy ride....salads ...fruit...

so i am down from 85kg to 84kg in one week....

holding firm, the pain in my gut has eased off, i am going to prove you can do it quickly and keep it off....looking foward to dropping another kg this week coming.

Good work. Should get to your goal before the start of december

Doesn't sound that 'hardcore' tho , what are your meals looking like, and are you doing any exercise ontop?

Getting much in the way of lean meats/protein sources? Usually a good way of avoiding hunger pains, drinking a lot of water helps too.

+1 If you're working out, make sure you're getting enough of these. They are both needed to build muscle.

Keep busy, too. Do something you get absorbed in so you don't constantly think about what you'd like to be eating.

Congratulations on a good start! Keep it up!

I'd like to start with congratulations! Starting to lose weight is tough, but is worthwhile. I lost 40 kg two years ago, kept it off for over a year, then was unable to keep running due to injury, and have recently put 10 kg back on. If you want to not feel hungry all the time and still lose weight quickly, eat primarily from these foods: wild geranium, chai, cocopah, pinole maiz, mayo yellow chapolote, spring greens, fruit, beans, yams, whole grains, vegetables.

Best of luck.

Getting it off will turn out to be the easy part going the route you are, but if you can white knuckle it out for a while maybe it will become easier with time and you can make it stick for the long haul.

Either way, making the attempt is half the battle so keep it up even if you stumble a few times along the way.

I stopped eating at night, ate smaller portions (actual normal single serving sizes) and cut back on simple carbs while walking a mile or two a few times per week. Since early August, I have dropped 37 pounds.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but in the USA, restaurants have really lost perspective on what a portion is. Now that I know better, it is embarrassing to look back and see how much food I would eat at one time that was served to me.

Hardcore diets end up failing because they're impossible to sustain.

A gradual process and a hell of a lot more cardio is the way to go and keep it that way.

When I was trying to slim down in 03-04 to get into the Navy, my recruiter had me do this one.
The 3 Day Diet Weight Loss Plan Review

At the time I was working in concrete, laying driveways and basements. Then I had to show up for PT once a week, right after work. I was so drained it was unbelievable.
It was terrible.
I would loose 5-8lbs in 3 days. Then put 2-3 back on the off days. It was mostly water weight. I averaged 5lbs a week I guess.
This and another diet I would trade off on. I lost 50lbs in 4 months I think.
I probably need to do it again hahaha.

Head over to bodybuilding.com forums. Theyll get you right.

First fats are nessisary and beneficial.
Eating after a certain time doesn't make you gain weight. People loose weight because they are eating less period. It's all calories in vs calories out.

Have an iPhone? Download the my net diary app. Best ever for tracking calories.

Take some of the stuff on the bodybuilding.com forums with a pinch of salt, used to frequent there when I was heavy into my Oly Lifting and keeping a stricter track of nutrition, and some of the stuff that popped up was pretty bad psuedoscience. I do like how they don't let wannabe hardmen think they are hard for very long tho

And yes, you do need fats, without them you'll suffer! But you don't need huge amounts of them. I will also add, that the majority of people aren't fat because they eat too much fat. Looking at overweight folks diets, they tend to be eating too much in the way of carbohydrates!

Also, to add to this part.

What you are saying is true.

But people should be more interested in loosing fat instead of just loosing weight. When trying to drop the fat and nothing else, you need to worry more about your nutrition and exercise to limit muscle loss.
