I am looking to buy stuff off the classifieds. The item is 150$ and to any of us middle class folk, that is alot of money. The seller has great feedback, and I have trust in talkbass' community. I dont have paypal so I need a money order. I don't think I'll get scammed but any tips on over the internet transactions?

P.S. If the seller is looking at this please don't take offense. You have good feedback but I am just protecting myself.

BTW I am reading the thread in the classifieds on it. Just wondering about individual experiences.

Call the seller and talk to them on the phone. PM other parties in his past deals and ask for a private appraisal of how the deals went.

I've bought some things here on TB and everytime I've gotten my item. Just make sure that you only use PayPal. The one time I didn't it was a long and lengthy process to ensure that I got what I payed for.

You're never 100% safe. At some point you have to place some faith that people will do the right thing. The positive transactions massively outnumber the occasional bad one, but if you feel a 100% need for certainty you can opt to just buy local, although you'll be missing out on a ton of good deals.

For the record I've purchased $1000+ in gear from fellow TBers without incident, and would continue to do so if feedback and common sense are both present in their posts.

This is enough for me. There are certain members here, when I sell that I'll ship before receiving payment, depending on feedback and my own personal experience.

Most people here are looking to help you out. Ask him for his phone number and chat over the phone... usually makes it a little easier to trust.

I'll chime in here...I purchased a $2000+ bass a couple years ago from a TBer. As soon as the deal was made, I said that I would send the check the next day and he said the same about the bass. Well, he decided to send the bass the same day. Just a few hours after the deal was made, he sent a tracking number. I had not even sent the check yet. I sent the check the next day as I said that I would. But it was a personal check. He sent the bass without even knowing that I was good for the money. Though I did have all positive feedback at the time. Of course my check was good and he got the money with no problem. My point is; most people on here are solid.
Sometimes you have to deal with idiots and there are a few on here. But for the most part; people around here are trustworthy and there are no issues.

I trust TB's community and am not that afraid, common sense says,"Wookiee go for it", and thats what I am going to do.
