Online purchase nightmare.

I purchased a G&L Tribute bass a month ago from an online music store. The neck on it was weird. Could never get it to adjust properly so I called and arranged to return it. I was issued an RMA and they emailed me a shipping label. Very cool.

I shipped the bass on the 6th of this month and awaited its receipt by the company and while it was in shipping, they charged my credit card for another payment. (I had a four equal payment plan and this was the 2nd payment).

So I called them and asked why did they charge me another payment since they had issued an RMA AND the bass was in transit.

Their reply, "Because you could be shipping us anything. Our policy is to continue billing you until we are in receipt of the returned item. It's our policy".

How nice. It's their policy to basically call me a liar that I could be shipping them "anything". So I said thank you, hung up the phone and shook my head.

They got it a day early, (5 days) and I was issued a "refund to credit card" email on last Friday.

It did not state what I was to be refunded so I called to inquire. I was told the amount and that it was credited to my card at 2:22pm and should see it credited soon.

Cool. Monday, no credit. I called my bank to ask if their was a pending credit. Nope. So I called customer service again to inquire. Well, now the time moved to 4:30 pm. Ok. Then I was told it would be on my account that day. It never posted. So now I am getting a bit miffed.

I called again today and asked to speak with the credit department. I was told I am "not allowed to contact them". They refused to give me any number. I asked why the credit had not posted yet and he looked it up and said it was not posted to the system until 5:30 on Friday. So, once again, I get another different time. Then the CS rep said it's only been one day.

Credit refunds are usually processed the DAY they are sent.

So I asked him for the corporate phone number. It was disconnected. I called him back and told him and he said "he only had that number, sorry. Try writing them an email". I asked him for the address and he said write him and he would "forward" it to corporate.

So I wrote customer service a pretty demanding letter including the CS reps names, times and things said.

I just got the credit about 30 mins ago.

I will never use this company again.

If anyone wants the name of this company, you can PM me. I will not post it as I am observing TB's rules.

You couldn't dispute the charges via your credit card company?

It took all that happened to get the credit. Disputing it would only cause another problem. Investigation could take weeks.

That blows. I'd be curious to know who this retailer is...
